In mid-May, Akron Community Foundation broke ground on a $1.65 million building expansion and remodel at its 345 W. Cedar St. headquarters. The expansion includes a physical home for The Center for Family Philanthropy, as well as expanded office space and new conference rooms.  Learn more
Dave Lieberth a  civic activist who has volunteered thousands of hours and raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Akron civic, cultural, and charitable organizations  is the 2019 recipient of Akron Community Foundation's Bert A. Polsky Humanitarian Award. Lieberth will receive the award at the annual Bert A. Polsky Humanitarian Award dinner on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the Hilton Akron/Fairlawn.

exhALE: Advancing Lived Equality
The Gay Community Endowment Fund of Akron Community Foundation invites local residents and community leaders to its annual celebration, "exhALE: Advancing Lived Equality," on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019.
Quarterly grants include $625,000 for arts & cultureGrants
Nearly $3 million was distributed in grants by Akron Community Foundation this quarter, including $625,000 in board discretionary funding for arts and culture programs. Bounce Innovation Hub, which unveiled its new generator space in May, received a $10,000 grant to hire a maker in residence who can provide advice and technical assistance to members and makerspace users.

New fund helps foundation prepare for proactive grantsfunds
Akron Community Foundation recently created  The Proactive Grantmaking Fund to prepare for its first round of proactive grants later this fall.  Through a community needs assessment and feedback garnered from On the Table surveys, the community foundation has focused its proactive priorities on: the  aging senior population, drugs & addiction, and diversity, equity & social inclusion. More information about these grants will come in the fall. This fund was one of seven new funds established at the community foundation this quarter.
