A Season of Prayer
23 rd Psalm – translation from the Japanese
The Lord is my pacesetter,
I shall not rush.
The Lord makes me stop and rest
for quiet intervals.
The Lord provides me with images of stillness,
which restore my serenity.
The Lord leads me in ways of efficiency,
through calmness of mind.
Even though I have a great many things
to accomplish each day,
I will not fret for the Lord’s presence is here.
The Lord’s timelessness and all importance
will keep me in balance.

The Lord prepares refreshment and renewal
in the midst of my activity,
by anointing my mind with the Lord’s oil
of tranquility.
My cup of joyous energy overflows.
Surely harmony and effectiveness shall be the fruits of my hours,
for I shall walk in the grace of my Lord
and dwell in God’s house forever.

Staying in Contact

Without a Pastor leading the church or a secretary in the office, sometimes it’s hard to know how to contact “the church.”  What if you have a question or need to know something? What if you have a pastoral care need or concern? What should you do?

The best way to get help or information is to call someone, especially a member of Session.  They will be glad to connect you with the person who can best answer your question or meet your need. If you don’t already have one, current directories are available on the table in the narthex. Session members’, along with all other members’, phone numbers and email addresses are all listed. You can also send an email to hpchurch@bellsouth.net.  Since there is no office staff, calling the church directly is the least effective way of getting in touch with someone. We do have an answering machine, but messages are usually only checked once a week.

Also, don’t forget about our website (www.highlandpresbyterian.org). You can get basic information, send an email communication, or look at past issues of “Connections” for information in past announcements. It’s all there at your fingertips with just a little looking.
