FAMILY JUSTICE CENTER

On June 11, 2019 the City of Santa Ana Public Safety, Code Enforcement and Neighborhood Empowerment Council Committee met.  During this meeting, I brought forward the concept and need for a Family Justice Center in Santa Ana.  Budget conversations have been moving forward and funds to establish this type of facility have been identified. The Family Justice Center concept is dedicated to empowering and transitioning victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and sex trafficking into survivors.  By having a justice center similar to the one in the city of Anaheim, it is hoped through the establishment of strong partnerships with government entities and non-profit groups that the Santa Ana Family Justice Center  will be a "One Stop Shop" to provide assistance and advocacy for all victims of crime. Together, through this Family Justice Center, we will break the cycle of violence in the City of Santa Ana.

   RESIDENTIAL PERMIT PARKING

Many of you have been asking about the permit parking process, permits, cost, etc.   I am pleased to share g ood news, as the Public Works Agency recently revised the existing permit parking process in order to improve implementation times.

To begin the process for consideration of permit parking, an Interest Form must be requested from the City; the Interest Form  must be returned to the City with signatures indicating that a majority  of residents (a minimum of 51%) on the block concur with the request, along with a minimum of three (3) photographs documenting the lack of available parking on the street. Your signature on the Interest Form indicates that you concur with the request to initiate the process.

In order to reduce processing time, this new Interest Form component has been added as a choice in lieu of requesting City staff to conduct an observation to verify the parking intrusion first hand. Please note that the staff observation is still an available option, if the resident does not wish to process an Interest Form.

After the Interest Form or observation phase, the process remains the same: City staff will conduct an official petition (Poll) of the property owners on the block. To implement Residential Permit Parking on a particular block, the Poll conducted by City staff must show that a minimum of 66% of the owners of the eligible properties vote in favor of permit parking.

Details such as cost, eligibility, requirements, etc., of the City's "Residential Permit Parking Program"   can be found here  or Permit Parking s taff may be contacted at ( 714 ) 647 - 5623 .
