The Desert Museum is participating in the Agave Heritage Festival, which explores and celebrates the cultural, commercial, and culinary significance of the agave plant. Do you know how tequila is made? Are you an agave aficionado? If the answer is yes, join us at the Agave Expo at Hotel Congress on Saturday, May 4! Our very own Jesús García and Jason Wiley will be presenting at this free event. We hope to see you there!  Addicted to Agaves!

Party for the Planet

Our craft beer festival, Party for the Planet, is back for its third year! Stand among the saguaros on May 11 at the Desert Museum and sip on the best local brews in the Southwest. This fun evening will celebrate Endangered Species Day (#SippinForSpecies).Stargaze, sample sweet and savory snacks, visit with engaging animals, and dance the night away under the stars. $30/members, $35/non-members. There are also new VIP packages! Cheers to Conservation!

Calling all kids! Our interactive and educational camps will open your eyes to the wonders of the Sonoran Desert land and sea. Campers will explore every nook and cranny of the Museum as they  make their own desert discoveries, observe live animals up close, create art, make tools from desert plants, hike in the desert and go behind the scenes with animal keepers.  We have three diverse camps, catering to different ages.  Sign Up Today!

Flower Friday

Don't you love a desert plant that is easy to identify? The ocotillo (Fouquieria splendens) is a large shrub with long, spiny stems that are often seen swaying in the wild winds. When there is enough moisture in the air, the desert grows a little greener as small, two-inch leaves appear as the humidity increases. The ravishing red flowers start to bloom in March and will continue to flourish through June. These skyscrapers can reach heights of up to 20 feet. Come visit them today! Dig Deeper!

Volunteer Viernes

We would like to congratulate our volunteers of the month for April: Aubrey Mendelow and Mary Donovan-Popa ! Aubrey is a Docent and Raptor Free Flight narrator. He is a team player and always willing to help. Mary is a Docent on Thursdays and Saturdays. She (and her smile) has logged many hours for our special events.   We could not do what we do without them. Thank you for being such a great addition to the family.
