Roslyn Public Schools
SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS

February 11, 2021

Dear Roslyn School Community,

As we approach February break, I want to share some news that is worthy of celebration. Five RHS seniors, Ryan Chou, Julia Diamond, Grace Peng, Lindsey Russ, and Ethan Wachsman have been named finalists in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Competition; two RHS student musicians, Leah Arbitman and Kenny Kim, have been selected to participate in the 2021 NAfME All-Eastern Ensembles; and RHS freshman program - aimed at promoting kindness during the pandemic - was highlighted in Governor Cuomo latest NYS Coronavirus update. I am delighted to recognize the accomplishments of these students and the perseverance of our entire student body.

Going forward, be reminded that anyone who chooses to travel during the break must adhere to the NYS Travel Guidelines:  For any traveler to New York State from a noncontiguous state, US territory or CDC level 2 and higher country, the guidelines for travelers to test-out of the mandatory 10-day quarantine are below:
  • For travelers who were out-of-state for more than 24 hours:
    • Travelers must obtain a test within three days of departure, prior to arrival in NY.
    • The traveler must, upon arrival in New York, quarantine for three days.
    • On day 4 of their quarantine, the traveler must obtain another COVID test in NY. If both tests come back negative (the test from the location you visited and the test from NY), the traveler may exit quarantine early upon receipt of the second negative diagnostic test.
For the convenience of the Roslyn School Community, testing is available:
  • Weekends at Roslyn High School; the schedule is updated weekly on the homepage of the district website
  • Daily (7am-7pm) at St. Francis Hospital; inside tents between the emergency room entrance and the main entrance. No appointment necessary.
Thank you again for working together to keep our community safe and our schools open. Please be sure to follow all COVID-19 guidelines during your week off. I wish you all a wonderful and safe February recess!

Sincerely,

Allison Brown
Superintendent of Schools
