Greetings
We hope that summer is going well for you and you're getting as must rest as possible! Summer is a great time to recharge and get ready for the next academic year. Make sure to keep an eye out for summer opportunities and upcoming deadlines.
CASP welcomes our 2019 Cohort this month and we are very excited to meet them and have them be part of the CASP family!
We hope that our current CASP students are able to help us welcome our incoming cohort and make them feel at home at UCSD! We have included important summer dates, information for our current as well as our incoming students, and many more opportunities.

| FOR INCOMING CASP 2019 COHORT - STUDENT REGISTRATION AND CASP 101 INFORMATION |
CASP STUDENT REGISTRATION & CASP 101
You must register as an official incoming CASP student that will begin in the Fall 2019 quarter. The information provided will be used as your official CASP student record.
During your CASP student registration, you will be asked to register for CASP 101. Further details about CASP 101, including a full informational participant packet, will be sent after the registration deadline, no later than mid-July.
You are required to register as a CASP student, and will have an option to request an exemption (only if you have extenuating circumstances) on the CASP 101 registration section. CASP 101
does not take the place of your College orientation.
DEADLINE TO REGISTER IS WEDNESDAY, JULY 3RD, 2019.

Leave your legacy and donate your graduation gown for a future graduate! All donated gowns will be used for our CASP Cap and Gown lending program.

Student Services Center #555) during our regular business hours during the summer (Mon - Fri, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm) or beginning of fall (Mon - Fri, 9:00 am - 6:00 pm) and drop it off with our front desk staff.

| IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM HDH |
Dining Dollars Rollover
If you have any leftover dining dollars after you move out on June 15, they will automatically roll over into Summer and Fall Quarter 2019 (regardless of whether or not you are living on campus next year). Feel free to continue to use them through Fall Quarter at any of our HDH dining locations. You can view a list of locations here: https://hdh-web.ucsd.edu/dining/apps/diningservices/.

| TEACHING + LEARNING COMMONS HIRING FOR SUMMER/FALL 2019 |
The Teaching + Learning Commons is now recruiting for fall and summer 2019 positions.
The Supplemental Instruction (SI), Study Group Leader, Content, and Metacognitive - Learning Strategies Tutoring position campaigns are now active in the Instructional Assistant Data Management System. Please use this link to locate the applications for each of these hiring areas,

Please be sure to search for Teaching + Learning Commons (under Unit, column heading) and then look under the Description column heading for the correct position (e.g. SI Leader, Content or Learning Strategies Tutor, Study Group Leader).
There are multiple campaigns and to be considered for summer 2019 and/or fall 2019. You will need to apply to both terms (the term is designated under the Quarter column heading).
If you are selected for a position, you are required to attend mandatory training sessions. Training dates will be determined once positions for summer and fall are filled. Summer quarter work may require training during spring quarter 2019.
Interviewing and hiring will be conducted on a rolling basis until all positions have been filled.

Want to capture your experience on your official transcript?
Step 2. Select "Co-Curricular Record" on the left menu bar
Step 3. Click "Add a position to My Record"
Step 4. Search for "
Activity or Position Name
" in the database and with the year of involvement
Note:
Make sure you select the correct academic year/ time period. The year is listed in the Activity or Position Name.
Step 5. Click "Add to record" on the bottom right of the page.
Once you have requested the position, your supervisor/lead will be notified by email that a pending validation has been requested. Once the validation has been approved, you will be able to print an unofficial copy of the record through the CCR Portal or request the Official Transcript
through the Registrar's Office here

Sign up for a UCSD Email for Life!
What is it?
Alumni Email for Life is a permanent @ucsd.edu email address from which Alumni can send and receive emails. It is a forwarding service provided exclusively to our UC San Diego Alumni to help fellow Tritons, friends and family stay in contact with you.
You can continue using your existing student email address after you have graduated by connecting it to a non-UC San Diego email address. Sign up for Alumni Email for Life to link your address to a non-UC San Diego email address. You will start to receive mail to that address and will have the ability to send mail as your @ucsd.edu address through the non-UC San Diego mailbox. Please refer to your email service provider's for instructions to send mail as.

| WOMEN IN STEM SCHOLARSHIP |
One $5,000 scholarship, one $3,000 scholarship, and one $2,000 scholarship to female international/DACA students who are currently enrolled or accepted to study full-time in a STEM degree program at a program MPOWER supports in the United States or Canada.
What You'll Win: For the cycle ending July 15, 2019, we will be awarding one $5,000 scholarship, one $3,000 scholarship, and one $2,000 scholarship (USD, non-renewable)
Eligibility Requirements - Applicants must:
- Be accepted at, or enrolled in, a full-time STEM degree program at a U.S. or Canadian school that MPOWER supports, and
- Be a female international student allowed to legally study in the U.S. or Canada, as applicable.
- For study in the U.S., this means that the applicant is either a U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder), protected under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, or has a valid visa that permits study in the U.S.
- For study in Canada, this means the applicant is either a Canadian permanent resident or has a valid Canadian study permit.

| PAUL & DAISY SOROS FELLOWSHIPS FOR NEW AMERICANS |
Every year, The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans supports thirty New Americans, immigrants or the children of immigrants, who are pursuing graduate school in the United States.
Who is eligible for the Fellowship? The P.D. Fellowship is open to US Citizens who are the children of two immigrants, green card holders, and naturalized US Citizens, including adoptees as well as current and former DACA recipients. It is not open to visa holders. In addition, applicants must be 30 or younger as of the November 1 deadline, and they must be planning on pursuing a graduate degree full-time in the United States in the 2019-2020 academic year. Applicants who are beyond the second year of the graduate program that they are seeking funding for as of the November deadline are not eligible.

Ensure your continued success at UC San Diego! Second-year students are encouraged to sign up for 2Excel or 2Connect offering community, advising, and other resources to help you deal with second-year issues, topics, and challenges.
2Excel
2Excel provides holistic support through personal, academic, and professional development.
How to apply:
- You must be a second-year student who entered UC San Diego as a freshman to apply to the program (no transfer students)
- Program capacity is limited to 170 students
- Submit an online application by spring quarter of your freshman year; registration is open for the 2019-20 academic year
Expectations:
- Year-long participation from fall quarter to spring quarter
- Required attendance at a minimum of 2 workshops per quarter
- Mandatory meetings with your peer mentor 3 times per quarter
- Enrollment in EDS 23 (a 2-unit, pass/no-pass seminar offered winter quarter
- Completion of a program assessment exercise at the end of the academic year
2Connect
Compared to the
2Excel program, the 2Connect program provides more personal freedom and self-directed participation, following your individual needs.
How to apply:
- You must be a second-year student to register for the program
- All second-year UC San Diego students are welcome (unlimited capacity)
- Submit this online registration form by fall quarter of your second year
Expectations:
- Year-long participation from fall quarter to spring quarter
- Completion of a program assessment exercise at the end of the academic year

The Teaching + Learning Commons are pleased to announce that their Online Tutoring program is now active for Spring Quarter!
Tutors will be available for
Math 3C, 10A, 10B, 10C, 20A, 20C, 11 and 18 and Chemistry 6B and 6C tutoring.

Need help with a writing project? Want to be sure you understand the assignment? Want to talk through your ideas or get a second opinion on whether your point is coming across clearly?
The Writing + Critical Expression Hub ("Writing Hub") can help!
Located in the Geisel Library, the Writing Hub offers every UC San Diego student free one-on-one help with any writing project-from cover letters to lab reports, research papers to grant proposals. Visit the Writing Hub to meet with a supportive, well-trained peer writing mentor who will help you gain perspective on what works and what can be improved in your writing.
