VWU president will lead the National Association of Schools, Colleges, and Universities of the United Methodist Church

President Miller has been an active advocate of inclusiveness and an outspoken national spokesperson for Methodist higher education as the UMC struggles with church policy in relation to human sexuality-specifically toward those who identify as LGBTQ. Monday, he was elected President of the National Association of Schools, Colleges, and Universities of the United Methodist Church. Read more.


President Miller, pictured Monday, with  Mark Hanshaw, Associate General Secretary for the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry; and Greg Bergquist, General Secretary of GBHEM, at the joint meeting of the National Association of Schools and Colleges of the United Methodist Church (NASCUMC), the International Association of Methodist Schools, Colleges and Universities (IAMSCU), and the Association of United Methodist Theological Schools (AUMTS). The meeting was held at the Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta.

VWU set to host annual Sacred Music Summer Conference, July 22-27

Summertime at VWU brings the annual Sacred Music Summer Conference on July 22-27. This year's event boasts all-star lecturers including Dr. Lucy Lind Hogan, the Hugh Latimer Elderdice Professor of Preaching and Worship at Wesley Theological Seminary; Dr. Marcia McFee, author, worship designer, preacher and artist, and faculty member at San Francisco Theological Seminary; Jeff Smith, Director of Salt & Light Ministries; and Amy Gray, Associate Director of the Henry Luce III Center for Arts & Religion at Wesley Seminary. VWU Boyd Institute Speaker Announced

We are pleased to share that our 2020 Robert F. Boyd Institute keynote speaker will be Rev. Olu Brown, lead pastor of Impact Church near Atlanta, Georgia. The Institute will be held on March 23-24, 2020, in the Susan S. Goode Fine and Performing Arts Center. Registration will open in late 2019. Save the date and stay tuned for more information.
