North End Revitalization
Open House

Sandy Springs City Council Approves Ordinance Changes
In June, the Sandy Springs City Council approved changes to its False Alarm Ordinance. Beginning in June 2019, Alarm Companies will be required to provide True Verification before calling 911 to report an emergency. That means an alarm company must verify an activation as an emergency through audio or video confirmation, talking with a person who is on site, whether it is the resident, a neighbor or company-hired security guard. The change in the ordinance follows several changes implemented by the City to reduce the number of false alarms reported
Of the activation calls made by alarm companies in June, in more than half of those calls, the alarm company failed to comply with local and state laws requiring registration and two-call verification. Of all activation calls placed in June, when asked if there was any verification of an actual crime in progress, 100% of the alarm companies responded, “no.” More than two dozen cities use True Verification, all seeing a tremendous drop in the number of false activation calls made for emergency dispatch, providing public safety with more time to focus on true public safety initiatives within the city.
Pets Restricted at City Springs
Due to health concerns related to the children’s interactive fountains and heavy pedestrian use of the lawn at City Springs, the City Council approved a restricted pets policy at City Springs. Pets are not permitted on the lawn or within the picnic pavilions. In the short time since the opening of City Springs, dogs and their owners have frequented the City Green, often times leaving pet waste behind. Pet owners and their companions are welcomed along the outer walkways and in the green areas surrounding the Aston at City Springs.
