It seems only a short time ago that we were celebrating the arrival of a New Year, yet here we are in February. 2021 arrived quietly for us allowing fewer gatherings or celebrations, but blessed by faith we are able to look ahead with hope and joy for a brighter year.
At Protected Harbor we continue to work towards enriching the lives of those entrusted in our care. Adding an abundance of caution, our staff continually seeks creative ways to help our residents live life to its fullest by harvesting opportunities wherever they may be found.
Some semblance of normalcy has returned as our special equestrians were able to get back in their saddles. We also recently became members of the “Exceptional Ensembell”, a virtual bell choir. Recently the residents enjoyed a live guitarist as well as harmonica and tambourine musicians when they were regaled by a special virtual holiday music concert offered by Awesome Music. Their favorite part, however was the singalong. What an enjoyable evening was had by all!
Anticipating spring and the beginning of softball season the baseball bats and gloves were eagerly brought out and inspected. Days are filled with tetherball, basketball and volleyball, all activities designed to keep our residents up and moving while also having some competitive fun. Bike riding continues as a favorite way to pass time and also to squeeze in some much needed exercise. Best of all, we were also able to experience our first “disc golfing” bringing smiles of joy at the new-found activity. Thank you to everyone who made this possible.
God has indeed been very good to us! It wouldn’t be February without Valentine’s Day and everyone is looking forward to a very special party this month to celebrate God’s love.
It is also another opportunity for us to express gratitude as we reflect on the love and generosity shown us by our donors, volunteers, the staff and board members.
“No one has ever seen God; but we love one another. God lives in us and His love is made complete in us” 1 John 4:12
What better words to describe my heartfelt gratitude for the love and support we have received. Thank you for your prayers and financial gifts; it means so much to the lives of those we serve.
Blessings and Happy Valentine’s Day.
