Make 2019-2020 the Best at FAU!

Fall semester officially begins the week of
Saturday, Aug. 17. The  FAU Academic Calendar provides important dates and events for our families and students.

Here are a few action steps that you may help students accomplish in preparation for the fall:
  • Please encourage them to set goals for this academic year. The goals can be in the classroom and involve their academics or outside of their classes. Here are a few examples:
    • In classes/academic goals - earning particular grades in semester courses; earning a specific GPA by the end of the fall and the end of the spring; meet with an academic advisor each semester.
    • Outside of classes - focusing on career experiences; joining organizations of interest; obtaining leadership positions in their current organizations; research Education Abroad opportunities and requirements
  • Please ask them to check their fall schedules in MyFAU Self-Service to ensure they are taking courses on the correct campuses, or if any of their courses are fully online.
  • They may want to map out their schedule with the days, times, and locations (including buildings), which is important to developing a time management schedule that would be appropriate for them to follow each semester.
