GCVCC and CalChamber Oppose Prop 15
Proposition 15 is a $12.5 billion a year property tax increase—the largest in state history—that will hurt all Californians. Contrary to what its supporters claim, Proposition 15 will not help local governments and schools recover from the COVID-19 induced economic crisis and will hurt small businesses.

In the wake of the #MeToo movement, lawmakers passed legislation intended to curb sexual harassment in the workplace. Employers should be aware there are specific requirements regarding harassment training that employers provide.

Indio City Manager Announces Retirement
Indio City Manager Mark Scott has advised the City Council of his intention to retire effective August 15.
Scott has served in the Indio City Manager position for three years. He has worked in the city management profession for 40+ years, with 30 of those years in the role of City Manager.
GCVCC Supports City of Cathedral City CalTrans Grant Effort
The GCVCC has issued a letter of support for Cathedral City’s bid to receive a Caltrans ATP Cycle 5 Grant. The grant application is part of “Connect Cathedral City”, a joint initiative between the City and the CVAG to develop active transportation projects in Cathedral City.
Riverside County to Resume Some Youth Sports with Social Distancing
State health officials issued new guidelines for youth sports that provides for some limited participation. The state guidelines, released on Aug. 3, are a change from the previous rules which did not allow for participation in youth sports.
