FAN Friends & Family...

Welcome to our weekly email that aims to keep you informed about what's happening with FAN. This week's events are (again) all virtual, but we are hopeful that we'll be able to get back to having some in-person events soon (fingers and toes crossed!). In the meantime, remember that all of the events and training sessions listed below are open to everyone in Michigan (except as noted), so please share with anyone who may be interested!
Also, we wanted to share a little bit of inspiration from the great Oscar-winning actor Anthony Hopkins, who celebrated 45 years of sobriety on December 29th. Watch his video message, which was originally posted on Twitter, below.

UPCOMING FAN FORUMS
Mark your calendars for these future FAN Forums:

Monday, February 1st, at 6:30 pm
NORTHWEST WAYNE FAN VIRTUAL FORUM
Topic: "The Gift of Second Chances." Northwest Wayne FAN welcomes Patty Steele, author of the book The Gift of Second Chances, as their February forum speaker. Patty will share how her battle with addiction, which included a seven-year prison sentence, led to a renewal of hope and success in recovery. Today, Patty is a certified drug and alcohol counselor and a gifted public speaker who shares her story at numerous events and conferences, including this 2017 TED Talk. For more information, including Zoom meeting details, see THIS FLYER, or visit the Facebook event page HERE.
Monday, February 8th, at 6:30 pm
WASHTENAW FAN VIRTUAL FORUM
Topic: "The Heart of the Matter: Navigating Intimate Relationships During Early Recovery." Although healthy relationships are foundational to recovery, romantic relationships--if not navigated carefully--can hinder the early recovery process. Lead by a distinguished panel of recovery experts, the February Washtenaw FAN Family Forum will address the myriad of challenges that can arise within intimate relationships during early recovery. The discussion will address both new and existing relationships, as well as specific recommendations for when one or both intimate parties are in recovery. For more information see THIS FLYER, or register in advance for this forum HERE.
INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING FOR FAN? IF SO, WE NEED YOU!
Families Against Narcotics would not exist without the help of the amazing volunteers who devote their time and effort to making our programs and events successful. And we have lots of volunteer opportunities available, even during COVID. They include things like answering our Hope Line, helping with our Hope Not Handcuffs program, doing data entry, and more. Everyone has skills that can help FAN do what it does! To find out more about volunteering, or to sign up, go to THIS LINK.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO COOK SUNDAY DINNER FOR KYLE'S HOUSE SOBER LIVING?
Kyle's House, a sober living home in Fraser, was started by one of the founding members of FAN. Since 2011, FAN has been facilitating volunteer-cooked (or purchased) Sunday meals for the home's residents. If you'd be interested in providing a Sunday dinner for 15-18 men in recovery, we (and especially they) would love it. And you don't have to be a gourmet chef, either. Just cook from your heart like you would for your own family! Meals can be delivered between 3:00 and 5:00 pm on the Sunday that you choose. For more information, or to sign up to bring a little bit of home cooking to the courageous men at Kyle's House, go to the "Meals at Kyle's House" page on our website.
FAN CAN ALWAYS USE YOUR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE!
