Facebook Copies WeChat Again: Who Would Have Guessed This Just Five Years Ago?

Zuck at Great Wall Facebook is getting used to copying the Chinese tech giants. Facebook copied China's messaging app WeChat a few months ago when making plans to introduce private groups for online communication.
Now,  Facebook is copying again by releasing a payments option within Facebook, albeit with the twist of cryptocurrency to pay for goods and services.
But Facebook has a long ways to go before it can truly emulate WeChat

China's Belt And Road Could Be Improved
5 Ways
It depends on who you talk to: is China's massive Belt and Road Initiative is a good thing or a bad thing?
Washington, DC contends that this series of infrastructure investments to connect China with economies throughout Asia and into the Middle East and Europe is a dangerous China attempt "to buy an empire" and drown Belt and Road partners in a "sea of debt."
On the positive side, China's infrastructure investments are welcomed by host governments as efficient and effective ways of building ports, dams and railways. But issues persist over environmental damage, inability of host countries to pay for projects, lack of local employment opportunities, mistreatment of subcontractors, corruption, and lack of project oversight.
Here's where the Asia Society steps in with
five recommendations on how China's bold program can be improved.

DATA
China VC investing is down sharply in 2019 so far, back to the level of 2014, when the current boom began. Venture investment climbed from $17.4 billion in 2014 to $105 billion in 2018, as reported in my new book, Tech Titans of China.

VENTURE FUNDS
China's Sinopharm Capital and Cedarlake Capital have co-invested $20 million in Singapore-based healthcare platform Novena Global Lifecare, and set up a partnership for a $150 million fund that will support Southeast Asian healthcare companies.
