John and I just returned from 3 full days of making our way through isles and isles of booths, 1,100 of them to be exact. It is one of the largest pet expos in the world hosted at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.

As we wandered down the isles we wondered how are we ever going to see everything.  And we were correct. As hard as we tried, we just weren't able to see it all.

Luckily there were several booths that we could walk by quickly, like the ones displaying terrariums, aquariums, chicken coops, etc.  But, those only made up a small percentage of the 1,100 exhibitors there working very hard to give us a quick demo of their latest and greatest products.  

We saw some of the craziest things including dogs painted to look like pandas and leopards, we saw the latest styles in beds, the newest treats, new foods, new supplements, all of the latest cat toys and treats, many grooming products including shedding tools, new toys, new poop bags, hair bows, clothes, collars and leashes, the list goes on and on.

We loved seeing all of the new items and we will be bringing many of them in to our store. But, as we reflected on the week and all that we had seen, we were reminded of why we started this business in the first place; our love and passion for real food and supplements and the transformation it can make in our pets. There are so many very cute items that we can use to accessorize out pets, but when it comes right down to it, the most important thing is the health and longevity of our 4-legged kids and it starts with the right food and supplements.  We truly believe food is medicine, not only for ourselves, but our pets as well.  

The common theme that we continued to discuss was how feeding fresh food is truly the best way to achieve a vital pet.  Just as we know fresh food is best for us to eat, it is no different for our pets. Eating processed foods day in and day out can lead to many of the common Western diseases that humans are also plagued with like obesity, diabetes, adrenal dysfunction (Cushing's or Addison's Disease), auto-immune diseases and even cancer.  

Even when we eat processed foods, the level of nutrition can be ramped up by adding something fresh on the side, say a side salad or steamed broccoli. These of course, aren't the fresh foods that we are referring to that would be appropriate for our canine and feline friends. 

We started thinking about all of the ways that we can support this for you and your pets and started making a list. We realized that there are so many easy ways to enhance your pet's diet with fresh food.  Below are just a few:
