Over 100 Families Participated in
MYC Summer Camp - Thank you!

Summer Camp was a big success this year with over 100 families participating! Over the last 7 weeks,  the campers have been able to enjoy crafts, snack making, movie day and other activities in the game room, lounge and the gymnasium! They have also been able to enjoy the convenience of Fino Pool right around corner, three days a week! Finally, the campers loved their weekly fields trips, including: kayaking at Hopkinton State Park, a scavenger hunt around Milford, Pinz Entertainment, Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park, Water Wizz, Paw Sox, Ice Skating, Canobie Lake Park and Onset Beach! We would like to thank all the families who participated in our summer camp this year and also a huge thank you to the Milford Summer Food Service Program for providing the campers with a free breakfast and lunch every day they attended camp! Thank you to the Milford Humanitarian Coalition for providing meals to our counselors! For more pictures throughout the summer, please visit our Facebook page.

The Milford Youth Center has become the focal point for the children of Milford. It hosts many different activities and events throughout the year for the youth of Milford and/or the Milford Schools. The Milford Youth Center's after school program is open for youth ages 8-18, free of charge, from 2-6 pm, Monday through Friday (check monthly calendar, website and social media for any changes due to weather, holidays or vacation weeks). All Youth members must be picked up by time of closing (unless they walk home). Pick up is outside of the building on 24 Pearl St. Please visit our website for both our weather policy and traffic control plan.

All participants must fill out a registration form annually to be a member. Once this form is completed and returned to the Center, the member will be provided with a key tag and ID number. (if they are new members to the program). This will be how the Youth Center staff will track attendance. Therefore, all members are required to bring in their key tag in order to enter the facility. If key tag is lost, the Center will charge $1.00 for replacement. The game room, lounge and gymnasium will be offered daily. There will be structured programs that participants must sign up for to participate in. Members are also able to use our washer and dryer, free of charge during operation hours. The Center also offers a free snack and dinner program, due to the collaboration of CACFP, Hockomock Area YMCA and the Milford School Food & Nutrition Services department.

Volunteers are always welcome to assist with the after-school program or during the morning hours! We are always looking for help during the after-school hours, 2-6 PM. You may also run a program/activity during the after-school program.  We also need volunteers for our monthly evening events. Please   contact us  here if you would like to volunteer.
2nd Annual MYC Telethon!

The Milford Youth Center is reaching out to YOU to help raise funds to build a music and multimedia music room! For this reason, we are requesting for your support to help the Center with our second Annual Telethon on Saturday, September 15, 2018 from 3-9 PM . In an effort to help the Center, after State funding was cut,  Milford TV  offered to join forces and put on a telethon to draw attention to the Youth Center's endeavors to finish our multimedia and music rooms, areas that were not a part of the scope of the recent renovation. Last year, we were able to raise $7,000 during our inaugural Telethon and we are looking to double that amount at this year's fundraiser!  We are looking forward to our second Telethon in the hope to raise even more funds to come closer to completing the space, which we have received a quote for $50,000 to accomplish. As a thank you, all sponsors and donors will be recognized throughout the telethon broadcast and are welcome to join us as well!

Check out some of the things you will be able to enjoy at the Telethon: We will have a dunk tank at the Milford TV studio, where very important people from Milford will be getting dunked by the softball team. We will also see Dan Duest perform on his stunt bike and the wrestling and football team will put on an arm wrestling contest. There will be a fire breather and a juggling trombone performer. These are just some of the acts for the telethon. Make sure to tune in if you want to see all of the fun and win raffle prizes!

$2,500 Donation from DA for Telethon!

We would like to thank  Joseph D. Early Jr., Worcester County District Attorney's Office., for presenting a $2,500 check last month to support the Milford Youth Center! We would also like to thank the representatives from the Milford Police Department, Senator Ryan Fattman's office and Representative Brian Murray for joining us for the donation presentation.

We are so thankful for the generous donation, which will help directly support the Youth Center's endeavors to finish our music & studio rooms; areas that were not a part of the scope of the recent renovation. This check was our first donation to support our second annual Telethon, scheduled for Sept. 15, 2018, in the hope to raise even more funds to come closer to completing the space! Due to today's donation, we are at $10,000 of our $50,000 goal to accomplish the renovation of this space! Studies conducted by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), through the US Department of Justice, as well as the National Endowment of the Arts, have shown that arts based programming has demonstrated positive effects on youth who are considered at risk. Specifically, arts  programming has demonstratively led to: better academic results, greater likelihood of higher education, improved social skills, increased levels of community integration, increased self-esteem and emotional resiliency, and increased high school graduation rates."

As always, we would like to thank the DA for your continued support and generosity towards the Milford Youth Center. It is due to organizations, businesses and individuals, that we are able to continue to offer free after school programming, an affordable summer camp, and provide a safe and fun environment for the youth of Milford! For Milford Daily News article, click here.
