RONALD McDONALD HOUSE TABS COLLECTION
Naomi Circle is collecting tabs from beverage cans for Ronald McDonald House. You will find a container under the sign hanging on the UMW bulletin board. Please place them in a plastic bag and put it in the container. This is an ongoing collection, so keep bringing them in as you collect them. Thank you.

I've had an interesting week away, and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet a large group of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Most of us were meeting each other for the first time at a family (re)union planned months ago in Las Vegas. We are all related to one another through my paternal grandfather's family. But somewhere along the line, many years ago, people were lost, last names were changed, and it took about four years, some DNA testing, and a lot of research on the part of a number of us to finally get some answers. The group had come from all over the U.S. - Florida, New Jersey, Oregon, Washington state, Minneapolis, Denver, Pennsylvania (my daughter Allison & I) and a few other places. We all decided before we left that we would plan another gathering next year in Philadelphia. Many of these new-found relatives are looking forward to exploring the city where their father, aunt, uncles, grandparents, and great-grandparents lived.
One of the conversations we had was especially interesting. You see, none of us know exactly what caused that family rift so many years ago. I think we've all tried to find answers but with very little luck. Anyone who had any first-hand knowledge is no longer alive. We all agree, however, that it was probably something that could have, and should have, been talked through and worked out by those involved. But over the course of time, however, the division apparently grew deeper and wider until family relationships became so broken that those involved felt there was no going back. The GOOD news is that the conversation was then taken to the next level. One of my cousins stated that she was sure that a wonderful reconciliation had already taken place in heaven, and also that, as we were gathering, there was hugging, many smiles, and lots of tears of joy being shed by our parents, grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles and others who were watching from above as we were enjoying one another's company. And I believe she is absolutely right. There is always joy in heaven whenever reconciliation takes place among God's people.
And I pray that will be a lesson I will remember always. I hope all of us will remember it the next time something threatens to tear apart the threads of our connectedness. Christ has called every one of us to the ministry of reconciliation. Perhaps today is the day to consider how we can best live that out in our personal relationships.

 SHEETS FOR RED BIRD
6/30 is the Last Sunday
Naomi Circle is collecting sheets for Red Bird Mission during the month of June. They will be included in the Christmas Boxes that each family receives. Because of your generosity, last year each child received their own set of sheets. Many received their own set for the first time. All sizes are requested, juvenile twins would be great.
