From the Desk of Ellen Knippel, Principal
Dear Parents,
Thanks so much for taking the time to attend our Orientation Night. We had a great turn out! For those of you unable to attend, one of the important things we discussed was parent involvement and volunteerism. We need everyone to help make our school the best it can possibly be! We have many opportunities for you to help - whether it be during the day or an occasional evening. Please review the
volunteer opportunity booklet and return your
volunteer sign up form (if you haven't already done so).
There is still time to attend out Hot Summer Slice Event which will take place on Friday, September 14
th! This is our ONLY major fundraiser of the year! Please consider joining us! If you are new to our school, we will be sure to seat you with families that are at your child's grade level. This way you can get to know more SAL families! I promise you - it will be a great time!!
To conclude, please join me in welcoming Ms. Jeanne Marie Stalteri, our new Music Teacher. We have made the decision to hire our own Music teacher (shared with St. Charles) instead of using the Conservatory of Music. Music will take place on Thursdays and Fridays.
Blessings,
Ellen Knippel

Weekly School Newsletter Submissions
Do you have school news or pictures to share? Email Melanie at
[email protected] by end of day Friday for inclusion in the following Monday's newsletter.
Classroom Coffees - New!
This year the Knippel Coffee has been renamed Classroom Coffees! Each week (or so) there will be a teacher (along with Mrs. Knippel) hosting the coffee for their homeroom. This will be an opportunity for parents to ask questions and it gives the teachers an opportunity to discuss their programs and their great classroom activities!
Our first Classroom Coffee will be this Thursday, Sept. 6th at 7:45am and will be hosted by Mr. Regenfelder, the new Middle School Science Teacher. The Coffee will last approx. 30 min.
Please RSVP so we can get enough treats and if you have a specific question for Mr. R., please submit them with your RSVP so he can prepare.
ALL New and 5+ Year Volunteers
Adults volunteering with children 17 and under are required by the Archdiocese to take this training (coaches, chaperones, classroom volunteers, etc!) It can be taken at any parish (keep certificate!) and only needs to be taken once. It also includes a background check which needs to be updated every 5 years. Contact Brooke and she will email you instructions.
IT'S BACK!!!! Grades 5-8 are selling Calendar Raffles to earn money for their 8th grade
Washington D.C. trip.
(5th-8th graders can pick up raffles in the school office).
The cost is $20/Raffle
and the purchaser could win $25-$500 during the course of a year - that's 365 chances to win! Calendar raffles will be sold after Mass September 8-9, 15-16 or 22-23. Gr 5-8 sign up for a Mass time to sell. If you miss us at Mass, either find a 5th-8th grade student, or stop in the school office to buy one. It is very important that we sell all of the Raffles and we encourage families to support our older students by purchasing one or more!
Questions?
Email Cheryl.
MAP Testing (Gr 5K-8), This Week!
MAP testing for Gr 5K-8 will take place this week. For those of you new to our school, these assessments take place three times throughout the year. Our teachers use this data to drive instruction in their classrooms. Please be extra sure students get a lot of rest and eat a good breakfast!
Birthday Blessing Mass, September 5th
At the 7:45am Mass, students with August and September birthdays

th
at St. John Vianney (also a Sister Parish) at 9am.
Please join us for this Mass if you are able.

A Note From Our New Box Tops Coordinator:
Welcome back to school, parents! My name is Angie Lois and I'm thrilled to be our school's Box Tops for Education™ Coordinator.
Clipping Box Tops is an easy way to help earn cash. Each one is worth 10¢ for our school! Just look for the pink Box Tops on hundreds of products, clip them and send them to school (
collection sheet).
Our school has collected well over $36,000 in box tops over the years! Last school year we earned $1,193.50 and this year our goal is to exceed that amount.
I strongly encourage ALL families to visit
BTFE.com and sign up as a member (it's super quick and free!). The website provides more information on Box Tops, including a list of participating products as well as access to coupons and bonus offers. Please also consider downloading the Box Tops app to your phone or device as this is another great way to easily earn bonus box tops - these add up fast!
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. I'm here to help make our school's Box Tops for Education™ program a huge success this year.
Thanks for your help!
Angie Lois

Adoration For Children With Cancer ~ "Let the children come to Me"
"Let the children come to Me ...for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these." ~Mark 10:14
Join us for Adoration!
Eli Hansen, his family & Eli's Super Squad need our prayers
for strength and miraculous healing as they embark on treatment for his relapsed Neuroblastoma. We also know that many in our parish and school community are living with or have been impacted by various forms of cancer.
God calls us to love and support one another during these difficult times. On Wednesday, September 19th 2018, our school will hold its annual Childhood Cancer Awareness Mass. That week, we are asking our parish and school communities to unite in a common call to Adoration, lifting up prayers before our Lord for Eli Hansen & his family, all families facing childhood cancer, and all here at St. Anthony's braving cancer and its impact.
Submit Names Of Loved Ones Impacted By Any Form Of Cancer!
Submit name(s) of loved one(s) impacted by any form of cancer to be included on a petition displayed in the Chapel before the Real Presence of Jesus to Katie McGaver, subject: "Adoration". If you have already submitted names to Annie Staebler, you do not have to do this again.
"Adoration is to enter into profound heartfelt communion with the Lord, who makes Himself bodily present in the Eucharist." ~ Pope Benedict XVI
It is important if you sign up that you keep your commitment, as the Blessed Sacrament cannot be left alone.
You are asked to stay until the adorer for the next hour arrives. If a desired time slot is filled or you can only stay a few minutes, just come! More adorers are always welcome! Come alone or with family. All ages welcome! Your prayers before Jesus are precious too! If you are a regular adorer, your name has already been added to your scheduled Adoration day and time slot.
"Let the children come to Me." Bring the children to pray, lift up the children suffering, and let all of us - His children, young and old - come... Let all God's children, let His Church, come before the Real Presence of Jesus to be healed and loved by His merciful embrace. Amen.
