THIS WEEK IS HOLY WEEK

Holy Week is considered the most important and holy time in the life of the church-especially what is known as the " Triduum " - or Great Three Days - of Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter morning.
We remember the last days of Jesus' earthly life together with all Christians around the World.
The special services and events are listed in this newsletter.

MOUNDY THURSDAY

April 18 - Join us at 5:30 in Fellowship Hall for a special  time to learn about Passover and enjoy a special meal together.

Maundy Thursday takes its name from the Latin word for "commandment," as we remember when Jesus told his disciples, "A new commandment I give to you: Love one another."

We recall the Last Supper and the last words of Jesus and the disciples with dinner, communion, singing of Taize meditative songs and witnessing the stripping of the altar in the sanctuary starting at 6pm.
GOOD FRIDAY

April 19 - We will hold services at noon and at 6pm.

We remember the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ with a service of light and darkness.

Our Lord gave his life to save us and set us free from our sins. This is the one day out of the church year when it is not appropriate to celebrate Holy Communion. On this day the body of our Lord is broken on the cross
EASTER CELEBRATION

Saturday April 20 -  All families are invited to join us from 2-4 pm in Fellowship Hall for a Family Easter crafting party. We will have eggs to color, bunny headbands with ears, paper plate bunnies and a surprise! Older children can help with stuffing the Easter eggs for Sunday's egg hunt.

Sunday April 21, Easter  - We will hold services at 8 am and 10:15 am with potluck breakfast at 9 am and an egg hunt for the children at 9:30 am. A sign up sheet for the potluck breakfast will be available in the narthex.

The Easter Cross On Easter morning, you will see in the welcome area a cross that is ready to become a symbol of life and resurrection. It is the Easter cross that we decorate, which is a tradition at St. Mark. The Easter cross is made of the Christmas tree that you decorated celebrating the birth of Christ. We will place flowers on the cross that you are welcome to bring from your garden or receive at the church as you arrive.

                        EASTER POTLUCK BREAKFAST

Mission Council invites you to join us at 9 am in the Fellowship Hall for a potluck breakfast celebrating Easter. Eggs, bacon, coffee and tea will be provided.

We welcome your favorite dishes to enrich the meal. Please consider bringing fruit, scones, biscuits, veggies, quiche, sweets, juice to share.

Food items can be delivered to the Fellowship Hall prior to the meal.
