ENGAGING ALUMNI, COMMERCIALIZATION AND PHILANTHROPY
|
On June 14, OTC hosted a one-day conference focused on engagement between alumni, commercialization and philanthropy. The event was sponsored by Ohio Valley Affiliates for Life Sciences (OVALS), and more than 60 people attended including representatives from 14 universities from Arizona, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Ohio and Tennessee to discuss how to work together effectively. The event was a wonderful opportunity to learn about opportunities and tools for mutually beneficial collaboration.
Fletcher McCusker, founder of the University of Arizona's Venture Fund, UA Venture Capital,
gave the keynote address on Breaking Barriers between alumni and tech transfer. The program consisted of panels on alumni engagement, philanthropy and technology transfer collaborations, and alumni-led venture funds. The program also had presentations on tools to support tech transfer and alumni engagement, and an open mic session where the audience had the opportunity to share examples of collaboration between alumni, tech transfer and philanthropy.
The conference provided a wonderful opportunity for the offices to connect and engage one another in discussion and to learn about the challenges and opportunities for working together.
If you wish you could have attended, no need to worry. We created some videos of the panels and presentations, which are available by clicking on the link below.
