MEET OUR NEW Principals
Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools is thrilled to welcome two new principals to our district this year. Although familiar faces within the district, both leaders began the school year as first-time principals and are looking forward to a great year of learning and relationship building.

ALISSA LOPEZ ROYAL MANOR Elementary

Greeting students on the first day of school as principal at Royal Manor Elementary is Mrs. Alissa Lopez's dream job...a dream that came true this year. As a former English Learner Specialist at Goshen Lane Elementary for six years, Mrs. Lopez knew that Royal Manor would feel like home.

JEFFERSON ELEMENTARY Morning Meetings
Jefferson Elementary has a new way to kick off their school day each morning and it is already showing great results.

Instead of reporting to a classroom each morning, students arrive and go directly to the gym for a whole school "morning meeting". Good work habits, stress relieving breathing and morning announcements are just a few of the topics covered each day before the students head into their classrooms.

Spending just a quick fifteen minutes together has shown to be a nice way to build school community and decrease tardiness as well. Please watch as Jefferson's morning meetings are explained in the video below.
SIXTH GRADE Adventure Days
Sixth graders across the district had a wonderful opportunity to build strong relationships with fellow students and staff in a fun and supportive atmosphere. Each school came together on different days in September to celebrate Sixth Grade Adventure Day!

Our Sixth Grade Adventure Days provide an opportunity for students and staff to participate in a number of team building and collaborative activities. This day stresses the importance of teamwork, collaboration, and positive peer relationships.

Students had the opportunity to build circuits, build and launch rockets, play Gaga Ball, participate in a rock climbing wall, high ropes course and a many other team building and collaborative activities which varied slightly from school to school.

Please watch the video below and celebrate our sixth graders as we welcome them to middle school!
LINK CREW Welcomes GLHS Frosh
Gahanna Lincoln High School welcomed the Class of 20223 with a full day of activities prepared just for them.

A select group of GLHS leaders called LINK Crew, planned activities for over sixty groups of freshmen, divided into teams of ten. Leaders took freshmen on tours of the building and walked them through an abbreviated schedule. Freshmen ended the day knowing exactly where every classroom on their schedule was located.

For a glimpse into this special day, you can read more about the LINK Crew and Freshman Day in this article written by one of our Student Journalists, GLHS Senior Eric Cox.
