Dear DHS Staff, Students, and Families,
Next week we begin hybrid learning. We are excited to welcome (or welcome back) to the building, our in-person learners! During our transition to hybrid learning, please know that our teachers will be helping our students to adjust to the many nuisances of classes being taught both in-person and remotely. Teachers will also be making adjustments over the next few weeks as they work to create a collaborative learning environment that allows students to engage meaningfully both in-person and remotely, while also meeting the needs of each unique student. As we transition again to a completely new way of teaching and learning, I am grateful to our teachers, staff, students, and families who are working collaboratively to make this a successful learning experience.
A few reminders for our in-person learners:
Students who selected hybrid learning should have received their group/cohort designation in IC. (Group A = red on the bell schedule, Group B = gray on the bell schedule). Please review your schedule - and class location - on Monday. Be sure to make a physical copy of your schedule or have access to the digital schedule. Students who formerly had free periods or free off-lab periods will be designated to a specific study hall location. Students may enter the building later or leave early - instead of attending study hall - if their study hall is during the 1st or 3rd class of that session. Again, be sure to review your schedule on Monday, since schedules are being updated this week with study hall locations.
Students attending class on campus must be sure to bring: physical or digital ID, earbuds/headphones, CHARGED Chromebook & charger, backpack with materials, refillable water bottle, warm clothes, and shoes for PE (please wear or bring a pair to change into).
Parents/guardians, please be sure to complete the health screener for your student(s) every day before coming to campus. Students, in order to reduce long lines that could form outside of the school upon entry, be sure to have your ID (physical or digital) out and ready to scan as you enter the building. Thank you in advance for making check-in a smooth process! Also, never forget the 3Ws: wear a face covering (correctly), wash your hands, and watch your distance (6 feet at all times).
I hope you have a nice weekend! Stay warm!
Sincerely,
Principal Kathryn Anderson
