Disability Employment Awareness Month | 2018

October is the National Disability Employment Awareness Month. The United States Department of Labor has created a theme for the 2018 awareness that is
America's Workforce: Empowering All.  More about this year's theme and other information can be found here:  National Disability Employment Awareness Month News Release.

In May 2011, the Missouri legislature passed House Bill 555, which authorizes school boards to require the provision of disability history and awareness instruction in public schools during the month of October of each year. House Bill 555 further requires the month of October to be designated "Disability History and Awareness Month".  You can learn more about Disability history in Missouri at the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) here:  Disability History in Missouri

At MPACT, it is our goal to empower parents to advocate for their children's educational needs.   This includes post-secondary life.   MPACT has a printable Transition Inventory on our website that can assist parents and students in planning for this important time.  You can find it here:  Transition Inventory

We also have Regional Transition Events throughout the state.  For more information on these events, please visit our website.
