"Free, Free, Free!" is an e-newsletter and website that provides a monthly curated list of free programs, events and activities happening throughout the city in our libraries, museums, cultural centers and parks. We encourage you to express your culture through the arts and take advantage of the many opportunities the City of Chicago provides you to engage, create and participate!

The City of Chicago and the League of Chicago Theatres have designated 2019 as the Year of Chicago Theatre. 
 
This citywide, year-long focus on theatre is the first of its kind in the U.S. The initiative will include theatre performances - including improv, dance, opera, puppetry and more - and special events for the public at hundreds of cultural venues, theaters, parks and neighborhood locations throughout the city.

Taste of Chicago is the nation's premier outdoor food festival showcasing the diversity of Chicago's dining community. The delicious array of food served at Taste of Chicago is complemented by music and exciting activities for the entire family. As Free Street Theater prepares to tour the parks for the 50th year, we pose the questions, "What has survived Chicago?" and "What do you want to still be here in 50 years?" Join us as our multigenerational, multicultural ensembles perform an original devised piece about the JOY and SURVIVAL of our Chicago communities. The Play About Play! is an hour-long, original theatrical production for young audiences celebrating the joy and science of play and inventions. Learn about the history of your favorite dance moves and the science behind your favorite toys, and experience games from around the world. Enjoy opportunities to interact during the show that will inspire healthy play all summer long. This performance is best suited for children 4 and up.
