New Urgent Care Partnership with Jupiter Medical Center Expands Palm Beach Atlantic University Student Health Services
WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA - Responding to a growing trend among independent colleges, Palm Beach Atlantic University has established a partnership with Jupiter Medical Center to provide all students with enhanced urgent care services featuring extended operating hours, on-site imaging and testing facilities, and access to top health care providers in the area. Located about a mile from campus at 625 North Flagler Drive, the facility operated by the prestigious Jupiter Medical Center will serve campus residents, commuters, athletes, evening and graduate students, according to Dean of Students Bob Lutz. Free valet parking is available, and the center can be reached by foot or bike within minutes. Jupiter Medical Center Urgent Care provides walk-in care Monday through Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on Sundays and holidays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

"This select partnership will enhance the student experience and expand the services offered," Lutz said. "As we want students to thrive now and in the future, the University is open to collaborating with outstanding organizations, such as Jupiter Medical Center, which specializes in these services."
Broward gets new doctors-in-training
With Florida's physician workforce aging, the state has predicted a shortage of doctors, particularly in critical specialties. Memorial Healthcare System is addressing the need of future patients by training the next generation of physicians. On Wednesday < 6.19.19> night, the healthcare system welcomed 47 medical school graduates as residents from more than 5,000 who applied for spots. The residents accepted the traditional white coat worn by practicing doctors to begin the clinical part of their medical training at Memorial's six hospitals in Broward County.

"The state is not going to manage its health care needs unless it gets more doctors, and one way is to create more residency programs and Memorial is trying to do that," said Saima Chaudhry, VP for Academic Affairs and Chief Academic Officer at Memorial Healthcare System. Chaudhry said the goal is to get the residents to stay in Florida when their three-years of training are completed.
