A summer favorite: water skiing at the sea base! We've had a wonderful summer on and off the water. See awesome photos here. Hundreds of youth enjoyed the Sea Base during eight weeks of aquatics camp.

The year was 1959 -- ten years before Armstrong landed on the moon. Recent Long Beach Eagle Scout Dave Alexander was escorted to the council's dinner by then X-15 pilot Neil Armstrong. Read Dave's story here

Local Venturing Scouts of Crew 181 recently did a five-day, 50-mile canoe trip down the Russian River. See photos. They paddled through rapids, portaged around dams, and explored redwood forests. What a trip!

Important notice: all registered adults are required to complete the new 4-part YPT training as outlined by National BSA. YPT site here. Must be completed by October 1. Any prior YPT expires next month 9/30.

The Sea Base now has a Flag Retirement box! Dr. Bill Ridgeway saw a need for a container that could be used to collect flags that needed to be retired. Youth and adults from Ship 550 helped with the project.

Last week more than 40 people picked up banners, yard signs, and more for their Pack welcome night. Resources posted online here. If you would like to still pick up resources for your unit, contact Henry or Liz.
