The sheer volume of events available in Bend during the summer can be overwhelming. Fortunately there is something for everyone, like Michael Franti playing at the Les Schwab Amphitheater, or The Great Race coming through town on Thursday. This vintage rally starts in Riverside, California, on June 22nd, and finishes in Tacoma, Washington, on June 30th, featuring cars older than 1974.
Stand-up paddleboarding the Deschutes River is another favorite summer activity, and the local golf courses are looking good and playing well. One of my favorites is located just outside of La Pine, Quail Run. The Quail Run Golf Course boasts long par 4's, incredible views of Paulina Peak and resort quality at an affordable price.
Getting into the mountains and enjoying the lakes and trails are other favorite activities. Considering the incredible beauty of the Cascade Mountains, it is no surprise!
Bend, Oregon is Growing!
In December 2016, the Oregon Department of Land Conservation and Development acknowledged the addition of over 2300 acres to the Bend Urban Growth Boundary, creating opportunities for much-needed housing in our growing community. The first land annexation for new residences since the expansion will be 245 acres west of Northwest Crossing and has been approved in a vote on June 5th.
