YOUTH SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION DAY ON THE HILL
"People Before Profits"
  Monday, February 10, 2020

AC4C Members and approximately 160 youth attended Youth Substance Abuse Prevention Day on the Hill! AC4C members Lorelle Mueting and Maggie Ballard led the youth training, and Ryan Doyle recruited youth (current count is 36!) to join the newly formed Youth Advisory Council.

FREE OPIOID OVERDOSE REVERSAL DRUG

Iowans who want to be prepared in the event they encounter someone experiencing an opioid overdose can now obtain free naloxone (Narcan nasal spray) through the statewide Tele-Naloxone Project. More info at this  link .

CADCA 30th Annual National Leadership Forum

Members of AC4C Staff attended CADCA's National Leadership Forum in National Harbor, MD. Highlights included visits with Rep. Abby Finkenauer, Sen. Joni Ernst, and Sen. Chuck Grassley, and  CADCA Academy graduations for NFVCC and Jackson County coalitions. Congratulations, Stacie Schroeder (NFVCC) and Julie Furne (Jackson County)!

Youth Voices are Needed!

We are working to develop our Youth Advisory Committee and are looking for representatives  from  throughout the State. Youth Advisory Committee members will:
 
EDUCATE  community members about the needs of youth, the contributions they make to the community and the ways that communities can better support youth
BRIDGE  the gap between younger and older generations
DEVELOP leadership skills and use them to connect with the community and policymakers
ADVISE  on the activities of the Youth Coalition
REPORT  on behalf of the Youth Coalition to AC4C
DESIGN marketing and promotion materials for our new group
 
If you have an outstanding youth coalition member that would be a good fit for addressing substance use on a state-wide scale, please consider nominating them today. For more information, contact Jennifer Husmann, AC4C Coordinator, at  jhusmann@asac.us
