October 2018 Monthly Minutes
A Message from Child Care Aware of NH
Hello Providers,

We hope that your fall has started off well. This month, CCAoNH has a lot going on! We start off with several staff members flying to Denver, Colorado for the 2018 Child Care Aware of America Leadership Institute: Leading Boldly, Accelerating Change. The Institute offers participants a place to gather and engage in dialogue about critical issues facing the future of child care and early learning today. One of our own staff members, Shaquanna McEachern, will be presenting at this national conference on our efforts in NH on Emergency Preparedness.

Child Care Resource and Referral Outreach Specialists continue to diligently work with the District Offices, the New Hampshire Employment Programs and Workplace Success. Through these outlets, Child Care Resource and Referral Outreach Specialists work with individual families looking for child care. We help to provide a tailored list of referrals that families can use to help them find care.

Our Training and TA Specialists are busy supporting providers through technical assistance, trainings, Leadership Collaboratives and EOP Cohort groups. The application for the Progressive Training and TA Program is due by Friday, October 12, 2018. If you have not been part of our Progressive Training and TA Program, now is a great time to see what it is all about! In addition, today is the first day of the 2018-2019 Credentialing Challenge. There are two different challenges again this year, the Individual Credentialing Challenge and the Team Credentialing Challenge. The challenges are a great opportunity for you to work with a Training and TA Specialist to get your first credential(s) or to renew your credential(s). Look below for details.

The 2018-2019 training year is off to a great start. In September, we offered the first Caring for Our Children Conference of this training year in Nashua. It was a great day filled with lots of professional development opportunities. If you missed the Nashua conference, don't worry, the Caring for Our Children Conference is coming to Conway on Saturday, November 3, 2018. Look below for more details.

Check out our Special Events coming soon. The Family Child Care Training Institute will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018. The 2018 Fall NH Early Childhood Leadership Summit will be on Thursday, October 25, 2018. In November, we are offering the Training and TA Institute on Thursday, November 1, 2018. Look below for more details about these fall events or for upcoming save the dates.

We would like to take this opport unity to thank you for everything you do for families and children. We hope that you enjoy this month's edition of Monthly Minutes.

Child Care Aware of NH
Emergency Operation Group
Child Care Aware of NH is dedicated to strengthening our Emergency Planning efforts. With approximately 45,000 children in child care settings throughout New Hampshire, it’s essential that these settings have strong emergency plans and procedures in place. Emergency services personnel have increased the amounts of safety events offered to their local communities. Through coordinated efforts with local emergency services, childcare programs will be better able to prepare for, respond to, and recover from the next incident, emergency or major disaster. Through this Facebook group, we are hoping to expand our efforts on helping our communities become a little safer. Consider joining this Facebook group to share and receive tools, resources and events regarding Emergency Planning.
Resources to Share with Families
October is National Children's Magazine Month and
National Book Month

Check out the Parents Choice Favorite Magazines for children. Share the link with families to offer another way to look at reading and literacy with their child.

Check out the list of NH Public Libraries. Don't forget to share the list with families.
A Message from the Child Care Licensing Unit
We are excited to collaborate with Child Care Aware of NH to bring news from the Child Care Licensing Unit to the child care community on a regular basis through their e-newsletter, Monthly Minutes. Every month, we will strive to bring you information to increase your understanding of the NH Child Care Licensing Rules, and to share other resources to assist you in your work with and on behalf of children and their families. We will also use this space to share any important announcements as they relate to Child Care Licensing Unit (CCLU).
CCLU needs to revise RSA 170-E:7, the law that governs background checks, in order to come into full compliance with the Federal Reauthorization of the Child Care Development Block Grant.

A Message from the
NH Immunization Program

Greetings NH Early Childhood Educators,

The NH Immunization Program (NHIP) reminds you that the 2018 Childcare Immunization Report will be sent to you in the next couple of weeks and is due back by November 15, 2018. The report will arrive via email (if NHIP has a current email address for you) or by postal service. Have you had a change of email address? Please call the NHIP at 603-271-4482 if you have a new email address or if the person who received the emailed report last year is no longer at your center.

NHIP continues to work at streamlining the report, including “up to date” age categories, knowing that children under age 2 have a complex schedule of immunizations, due at various ages.

For information about childcare immunization requirements and the annual report, please visit: https://www.dhhs.nh.gov/dphs/immunization/ccproviders.htm
For additional questions, call 603-271-4482. NHIP thanks you for all you do to keep NH children healthy and learning!
