Serving as a binational forum for legislators to exchange best practices and identify policy solutions addressing the complexities of the U.S.-Mexico border region, the Border Legislative Conference (BLC) will convene in Mexico City from September 20-21. Registration is currently open and we encourage anyone interested in border policy issues to join the conversation!
 
BORDER LEGISLATIVE ACADEMY - NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS!
The border region presents an array of governing complexities ranging from term limits to regional policy issues. To cultivate leadership in the border region, the Border Legislative Academy offers a program focused on professional development. By bringing together legislators from the U.S. and Mexico border states, the program facilitates cooperative learning and the exchange of ideas to strength leadership and legislative institutions.

LCRG MEETING AGENDA NOW AVAILABLE!
Hosted in Stevenson, Washington from August 18-21, this year's Legislative Council on River Governance (LCRG) will address a range of topics including the Columbia River Treaty, international trade, energy policies, aquatic invasive species, and dam removal on the Snake River. CSG JUSTICE CENTER REPORT RELEASED
Probation and parole are meant to help people avoid crime and succeed in the community while keeping them out of prison. Instead, new data reveal a harsh reality.
 
Confined and Costly: How Supervision Violations are Filling Prisons and Burdening Budgets,  a new report from The Council of State Governments Justice Center developed in partnership with Arnold Ventures and the Association of State Correctional Administrators, shows the startling extent to which probation and parole violations contribute to states' high prison admissions and populations, as well as the subsequent cost to taxpayers.
