The situation regarding COVID-19 continues to rapidly evolve and the City of Lakeway would like you to know that we are here for you every step of the way. These current measures have been put in place to protect residents and to prevent our healthcare system from being overwhelmed.
A new UT research study suggests the community needs to reduce person-to-person contact by 90% for the coming weeks. Additionally, Governor Abbott recently signed an Executive Order requiring those flying in from the New York Area and New Orleans to be quarantined for 14 days or for the length of time they are in Texas if they're visiting. The City of Lakeway remains in communication with Baylor Scott & White Medical Center. They have been continuously evaluating building additional capacity in anticipation of future needs related to the treatment of patients diagnosed with COVID-19. Medical professionals there are attending regular training for treatment of high-consequence infectious diseases in accordance with CDC guidelines. They have been cancelling or rescheduling clinically non-emergent procedures and surgeries where appropriate. They have also recently moved to a ’no visitor’ policy, with limited exceptions to one parent, spouse or caretaker. The main entrance is now closed and they are directing visitors and patients to the emergency department entrance where individuals must be screened before entering the facility. You can text BETTER to 88408 to have the questionnaire sent to your phone. If the questionnaire identifies the need for additional evaluation, you will be given options for next steps. Our local parks, trails and open spaces have always served as places where people can find respite and seek peace and restoration. During this time of uncertainty, these places are needed now more than ever. Our City park and recreation professionals are working hard to maintain these spaces and keep them safe, accessible and benefiting our communities during these challenging times. Let us all do our part to use them in a way that respects each other and public health guidelines. All City of Lakeway parks are open, but playgrounds, restrooms, work out equipment, sports courts, the skate park and dog park will be closed to help limit the spread of the virus. NEW: Take The 2020 Census
You should have received an invitation to take the 2020 Census by now in the mail. Census day is officially April 1 and it's highly encouraged to take the survey as soon as you can. However, with the recent COVID-19 developments, there deadline has been extended from July 31 to August 14, giving workers two extra weeks to complete door to door surveys. The delays do not impact households’ ability to fill out the census. They can do so online at 2020census.gov, using a unique 12-digit code that was sent to each household by mail this month. If you're having difficulty accessing the online portion of the Census or think there may be some information that needs updated on your form, you can call the U.S. Census Bureau at 844-330-2020.
NEW: Daily Brush Recycling Available
Public Works will be accepting brush and tree trimmings, shrubs, leaves and palm fronds Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at their facility located at 3303 Serene Hills Drive until further notice. This is free to residents. This will assist during times your waste services are unable to pick up other items outside of trash containers. Residents may dispose of one pickup truck load of yard waste or up to one 8' X 5' pile at no charge. Contractors will not be able to deliver for residents.
