SNOW COVERED WOODS
We welcome singer, songwriter and painter, Tom Pirozzoli as this week’s featured artist… and are most grateful that he shared his painting of the snow covered woods... with trees starkly reflected on the brook, on a day such as this, when all is quiet and still, following the storm.
Umberto’s Goshen Woods
We all know these are strange and surreal times. The fugue-like days affect our health, our livelihoods, our social fabric and our emotional worlds. But we’re in this together and it’s amazing to see our communities band together in support and compassion.

As this is being written, comes a Nor’easter predicted to bring a plentiful snowfall and gale force winds! With luck, by the time you’re reading this, the storm has passed, the sun is shining, roads are cleared, skiers are schussing in the fresh powder on the Mountain, and, fingers crossed… that rascally Pennsylvania rodent, Punxsutawney Phil, could not find his shadow and Spring will soon be here.
COMMUNITY
NEVER STOP LEARNING
It’s time to register for Adventures in Learning Spring classes.

Both in person and online classes are being offered.
CUE THE MUSIC
Yo, Ho, Ho… the revival of Sea Shanties. Even the Wall Street Journal has taken notice of this inexplicable cultural trend. Traditionally, since the 1800’s “Shanties” were songs sung by sailors to the rhythm of their work aboard merchant ships.  In December 2020, Scottish postal worker, Nathan Evans uploaded his version of ”Soon May the Wellerman Come” to Tik Tok and since then, videos with #seashanty tag have racked up more than 3 billion viewers!
The Gardiner brothers have even posted a tap dancing version.
The London Symphony Proms includes a traditional "Shanty” at their concerts with eager audience participation.
ST. VALENTINES DAY
Our thoughts turn to sharing hearts and flowers and chocolate with those we love on St. Valentines Day.
The New London Playhouse “Barnies” are offering a very special greeting for your loved ones. Singing video-gram.
New London Inn & Coach House Restaurant is offering a special take out Valentine dinner for two!
LOCAL SERVICES
Across the country, small businesses, especially restaurants, faced with closing their doors, have creatively adapted by offering take out, curbside pick-up and delivery services. The "Sunapee Region to Go During COVID” has supported and made our communities aware of many such local services.

INSPIRING QUOTE
Ralph Waldo Emerson
He said, “Write it on your heart that everyday is the best day in the year.  He is rich who owns the day, and no one owns the day who allows it to be invaded with fret and anxiety.  You have done what you could.  Some blunders and absurdities, no doubt crept in. Forget them as soon as you can, tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely, with too high a spirit to be cumbered with your old nonsense. This new day is too dear, with its hopes and invitations, to waste a moment on the yesterdays.”

Essayist, poet, philosopher, Ralph Waldo Emerson. 1803~1882
