Greetings!
Welcome to Promise Helpers' March 2021 newsletter.
Spring is upon us! One of the most beautiful times of the year because we can see new growth in nature, green grass, wildflowers blooming; a sense of renewal both physically and spiritually. Are you excited? We will never forget Snowmageddon. Thank goodness that is in the past! Now we can look forward to brighter days and warmer temperatures. But what about your present, your now? What can you say about that? Is life going as well as you would like or expect? Whatever the case, are you praising the Lord throughout your present? Are you continuing to make 2021 the Year of Praise to the Lord? We love hearing from you, so feel free to click either the "Prayer" button or Facebook link below to tell us all the ways you are praising Him.

Past, Present, and Future

Greetings dear friends!!
Here we are just days away from celebrating Easter!! Can you believe it? The past year, 2020, has definitely brought about lots of changes, losses, challenges, and opportunities to move forward in a new normal; one we may recognize or not even begin to understand. 2021 has been a major roller coaster ride so far. What is happening to the world around us? It seems to have been another year of extremes.
HOLD ON!
āTherefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day after day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working in us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things that are not seen. For the things that are seen are temporary. But the things which are not seen are eternal.ā 2 Corinthians 4: 16-18. This is truth!
Friends, we all know the devil is a LIAR! The past is the past. GONE! There is NO way to change the past. Yet, he wants to remind us of our losses, sins, sorrows, failures, shame and disappointments. Itās his trick to keep us looking back, instead of looking up and forward. We must let it go in order to be in the present. In the present we can be learning, healing, listening, growing into the woman God has created us to be. Preparing for those GOD moments and purposes He has planned for us. Lord willing, the choices we make in the present will affect our future the way HE intended. Yes! There is HOPE for each day. āHe has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.ā Micah 6: 8
This is the time of year we prepare to celebrate the greatest event known to mankind: The death, burial and RESURRECTION of Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD!! THE TRUTH! The ONLY reason for Easter is the salvation and eternal life given to us by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on that cross. The CHOICE Jesus made to follow the Fatherās plan all the way to his death on the cross is the rest of the story. If He had made a different choice at any point, where would we be
today??
āWe have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedekā Hebrews 6:19 NIV
Jesus is our Mediator, our Intercessor, our Savior. He is the ransom for our souls. He died on the cross for you and for me. My hope and my anchor will now and forever be Jesus. If your hope is in anything or anyone other than JESUS, then my friends, you are sadly mistaken and will lose hope.
āSalvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under Heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. ā Acts 4:12 NIV
HE, JESUS, should be our all, our everything, folksā¦just sayin'. Make this the day you CHOOSE HIM as your Lord and Savior. Talk with him, repent and receive HIM into your heart!
āFor God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, Jesus Christ, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life to save us from our sins. ā John 3:16. NIV
āIn our lives we have both battles and blessings. CHOOSE to allow GOD to fight your battles so that you can enjoy His blessings.ā
Marilyn Waller
Blessings of JOY,

3 Ways To Quiet Your Mind So You Can Hear From God
|
|
Psalm 46:10 says, "Be still and know that I am God." The word "still" in this verse is a verb. Funny enough, stillness is something we DO. It is a practice, something that takes effort and intentionality on our part.
Stillness is the activity of letting go, relaxing, letting down your guard, relinquishing control, and sitting with all the shortcomings and undone things in your life.
In short, you could define stillness as doing NOTHING. Pssstt... did you realize there's a verb for doing nothing? Yes, my friend, there is such a thing and it's called being "still".
Now let's look at how we can work this discipline into the rhythm of our lives.
*Make it a daily discipline
- Choose a time and place for practicing stillness every day. Stillness is best done in solitude so be sure your time and place are secluded.
- Set a timer for ten minutes.
- Physically be still in your quiet place.
- Quiet and still your mind.
- Sit with your disappointments. Feel the reality of your limitations, letdowns, and everything that's undone. It really is okay!
- Offer this time to the Lord in faith. Tell Him you wish to deliberately acknowledge His sovereignty and control over your life. Invite Him to reveal Himself to you in the stillness and give Him the floor.
- Wait for the Lord. Don't go into your time with an agenda. Simply sit before Him. If worries and thoughts take your mind down a rabbit trail, simply tell yourself (gently!) this is not the time for that and again invite the Lord to speak.
*Practice a true Sabbath each week
- Don't schedule any work-related activities
- Completely unplug (yes, it is possible)
- Plan ahead for meals
- Attend worship
- Limit activities that are just for "pleasing yourself" (it's okay to be inactive!)
- Feed your soul with extra time in God's Word
- Take a nap!
*Take a monthly personal retreat
I've found it helpful to find stillness by planning downtimes throughout the year. Most of the time, I do these at home, so don't feel you have to get away to take a retreat! This is a time set aside for reflection, evaluation, and prayer. I use this as a time to NOTICE... what I'm feeling, how I may be disconnected with God or others, to my physical surroundings, to nature, to life.
Here are some ideas for holding a personal retreat.
- Plan for at least 4 hours (up to 24 hours) of solitude and quiet.
- Unplug!
- Take a journal. Pay attention to your internal state. Jot down what you discover. Do the same with your externals.
- Have a plan for reading (the Bible and/or other materials
By working stillness into your day, week, and year, you'll not only find more white space in your mind and heart, but also live in light of God's character and presence in your life. You'll be more quick to notice how He shows up in your life. You'll experience a deeper intimacy with Him as you rely on His strength and trust in His sovereignty.
