With Homosexuality being made legal in India, Duke got into the debate about why it is a sin. He was surprised to encounter so called believers who were arguing it is not sin. Here is a Facebook post of Duke that was widely appreciated:
'SO, HOMOSEXUALITY IS WRONG...BUT I HAVE QUESTIONS' - DUKE JEYARAJ ANSWERS A YOUNG MAN WHO BELIEVES ONLY HOMOSEXUAL RAPE IS WRONG WHILE MARRIED HOMOSEXUAL SEX IS RIGHT
A young man who is obviously believes you can be a homosexual and a believer at the same time has been messaging me. I am praying for him. He tries to say all of Bible's condemnations against homosexuality has to do with homosexual rape. He alleges that is what happened in Sodom and Gomorrah. His point: "Homosexuality in Sodom and Gomorrah was not wrong. The homosexual rape was wrong." So if two people are willing to engage in homosexual sex post a marriage in a church, that is fine - he argues. How do we respond to this?
I will respond with a quotation of Leviticus 18:22. That verse goes this: 'You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination' (NJKV). Homosexuality between two willing people is not awesome, but an abomination!
You just have to read Leviticus 18:22 (remember this reference!) which goes this way - - to understand that even homosexual sexual relationship between WILLING PEOPLE is an affront against God's holiness standards for us. This is plain as day.
In fact, this is so even in the case of male-female WILLING sex outside of marriage as well. The Pink-Movie Generation wants to believe only rape is sin! But this is not the case! Let me show you how:
Mrs. Potiphar was willing to have sex with Joseph. Joseph could have also chosen to have sex with her. What was God's view upon sex between two willing people outside the bonds of marriage? How did Joseph understand it? it was a "great sin" (Gen. 39:10). No debates here. You have to be stone-blind not to notice it. You have to be stubborn in sin not to see this.
Some spineless, Scripture-raping homosexuality supporters will want to tell me that Leviticus 18:22 is from the Old Testament and we are no longer bound to Old Testament law. Give me a minute and I will respond to that too.
'Do not commit adultery' is part of the 10 commandments found in Exodus 20. As believers who have been saved by grace, out of gratefulness to God, enabled by the Holy Spirit, we need to follow the moral laws of the Old Testament like "Do not commit adultery." We follow the moral laws of the Old Testament not to get saved, but because we are saved, we follow it out of gratitude to the Lord Jesus who died for us. I elaborate this in one full chapter in my book, Straight Talk. How do I know that moral laws of the Old Testament need to be followed even today? Here is why: The same moral laws are repeated in the New Testament while ceremonial laws are not repeated. While Moses put the moral law as "Do not commit adultery" in the Old Testament, the writer to the Hebrews in the New Testament told believers inspired by the Holy Spirit in Hebrews 13:4 this: "Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral". Both are saying the same thing (do not commit adultery) using different words.
So when Leviticus 18:22 tells us ultra clearly that even homosexual relationships between willing people is a sin in the Old Testament, that is a moral law we must obey even in the New Testament. Paul, a great Old Testament Scholar read that law, instinctively knows it must be followed as it is a moral law and so he repeats it in Romans 1:26 in his own way and style so that the believers of the church in Rome will not copy the Caesar in Rome who was a homosexual. He repeats in I Tim. 1:9-11 where he teaches that homosexuals are among those who are 'averse to Sound Teaching of the Glorious Gospel of the Blessed God' (so, those who say believers can be homosexuals are twisting the Gospel). Paul also repeats Leviticus 18:22 in a way in I Cor 6:9 where he says homosexuals (who do not repent) will go to hell.
So, let us stop twisting Scripture to say homosexuality is not sin! Let us repent before it is too late.
