February is Black History Month, and GCPS is proud to celebrate and honor the rich diversity of our community and the achievements and contributions of Black Americans. Board of Education appoints new leaders
At its January and February meetings, the Gwinnett County Board of Education appointed the following new leaders:
  • Dr. Al Taylor - Interim Associate Superintendent of School Improvement and Operations
  • James "Jay" Nebel, Jr. - Assistant Superintendent for Middle Schools
  • Dr. Dranita Morrow - Principal, Kanoheda Elementary School
  • Jennifer Clowers - Principal, Partee Elementary School

Take United Way's 21-day
Racial Equity Challenge
GCPS encourages staff, students, families, and community members to join the 21-day Racial Equity Challenge, starting in March. Sponsored by United Way of Greater Atlanta, the self-guided learning activity will explore the history and impact of racism and how it has shaped child well-being across Greater Atlanta. Registration is free, and anyone can participate—individually or with a group. Please click here to learn more about this informative and engaging opportunity.
GCPS shares CDC guidelines for international travel
If your family has international travel plans for Spring Break, make sure to build in an extra week away from school to self-quarantine. Gwinnett County Public Schools follows guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regarding international travel.
There's still time...register for Gwinnett Online Campus
and auditions for School of the Arts
  • Full-time registration to attend Gwinnett Online Campus for the 2021-22 school year is open until Fri., Feb. 26. Attend an in-person information session or view a recorded virtual session.
  • GCPS dancers and vocalists in 8th and 9th grades have until Fri., Feb. 26, to register for an audition slot for School of the Arts @ Central Gwinnett High School (SOTA). Invitation-only auditions will be held March 4-6.
Public invited to participate in Instructional Resources Review
Staff, parents, students, and community members can review and provide input on proposed curriculum resources for three high school courses—Portuguese I, Forest Science, and Natural Resources Management. Additional resources for select courses will be added March 1. The virtual public review of all resources will run through March 12. For more about the instructional resources review process, contact the Office of Instructional Resources and Support.
Virtual Transition Fair planned for March 20
On March 20, GCPS will host the 2021 Transition Fair for students with disabilities, their families, and educators. Starting at 8 a.m., participants can “drop in” to the virtual event to view pre-recorded sessions about community services and resources for young people who have disabilities and may need assistance as they transition to adulthood. Questions? Send an email to Transition.Fair@gcpsk12.org.
Register for the Community-Based Mentoring Program's golf tournament
Tee up your support for a great cause! The Community-Based Mentoring Program will host its 11th Annual Golf Tournament on Mon., March 22, at Bears Best Atlanta Golf Course in Suwanee. The last day to register is Fri., March 5.
GCPS hosts STEAM Virtual Teacher Career Fair on Sat., Feb. 27
Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) will host a STEAM Virtual Teacher Career Fair on Sat., Feb. 27, from 9 a.m. to Noon. Contracts of Employment for the 2021-22 school year will be offered. 

Other exciting opportunities to join the GCPS team include:
  • Gwinnett County Public Schools is hiring substitute teachers! This involves going out to local schools and providing instruction through an in-person, digital, or hybrid format. You get to choose the assignments that you accept and determine your own schedule! Daily rates range from $98/day to $120/day. Learn more and apply online (posting #68471).
  • Competitive salary, excellent benefits, paid training, summers off, a flashy company car, and the opportunity to drive student success! GCPS needs bus drivers and monitors. Interested candidates are invited to learn more at an upcoming job fair on March 3. Apply online (posting #66966).
  • GCPS is hiring part- and full-time custodial staff for its schools and facilities. Review positions and apply online.

  • Applications to serve on the district’s Instructional Resources Review Committee are due by Fri., Feb. 26.
  • Please note that Tues., March 2, and Tues., March 16, are scheduled as Digital Learning Days #2 and #3, respectively, for all students.
  • Fri., March 12, is a student/teacher holiday or inclement weather make-up day.
  • The Gwinnett County Board of Education will hold its next meeting in person on Thurs., March 18. The work session and business meeting are available online for viewing through GCPS TV and links are posted the next day.
  • Celebrate Youth Art Month in GCPS! Enjoy the 2021 Tapestry exhibit at the Instructional Support Center (ISC) through Mon., March 29, or check our student art in the virtual exhibit through the end of the year.
