On March 1, 2021, The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has authorized a third COVID-19 vaccine to be distributed for use, expanding vaccine supply nationwide. FDA issued the emergency use authorization (EUA) for the Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine on February 27, 2021. An initial allocation of about 47,000 doses are expected to arrive in Wisconsin next week and be incorporated into Wisconsin’s vaccine allocation strategy. Read the press release here.

Gov. Tony Evers announced more than $322 million in funding to help support Wisconsinites who have experienced income loss as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Wisconsin Emergency Rental Assistance Program, administered by the Department of Administration (DOA), provides direct financial assistance for rent, utility, home energy costs, and wraparound services for individuals who qualify. - Q: Can staff in public and private preschool, Head Start, and K-12 school education settings receive vaccines beginning March 1?

A: Educators and child care staff are eligible to receive vaccines beginning March 1. The special allocation process for educators does not begin until the week of March 15. Vaccination from March 1-15 will be supply-dependent.
- Q: Are student and substitute teachers part of groups considered eligible for vaccination as of March 1?

A: Yes. All staff, including student teachers and substitute teachers, in public and private school programs are eligible. Eligibility information is available for the public on the Am I Eligible webpage.

How to Protect Yourself from COVID-19
- Wear a mask.
- Stay at least 6 feet apart from people you do not live with.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially before eating and after going to the bathroom, blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing.
- If you do not have soap and water, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Do not attend gatherings with people you do not live with.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash. Cough or sneeze into an elbow if no tissue is available. Wash your hands.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household disinfectant cleaning spray or wipe.
