Don't Miss-- A Night at the Movies

Don't miss OLLI's Trivia Night!  The theme for the evening's dress and table decorations is A Night at the Movies -- come as Audrey Hepburn, James Bond, or your favorite Star Wars character, just make sure you come for our big event on Friday, Aug. 23.

Remember,  you don't need to be a cinema expert to answer the questions - only a handful of them will focus on movies and entertainment.

For just $45 per person ($360 for a table of 8), the evening will include hors d'oeuvres, coffee, tea, and cash bar; eight rounds of trivia fun; prizes for first and last teams, best-decorated table and best-dressed team; and lots of fun.

If you don't have a team, no worries.  We'll place you on one, and you'll have a great night while we raise money for our shuttle savings fund, student volunteer awards, audio-visual purchases, and more!

Online registration is easy -  click here to sign up !  Thank you in advance for supporting OLLI on this fun and relaxing evening.

A New Cuba? Travelogue and Discussion

The Peoria Area World Affairs Council invites you to A New Cuba? Travelogue and Analysis with Don Samford

There is much to watch in Cuba these days.  What impact did the brief thaw between the US and Cuba have on development there? What direction will they head next? Is there any hope for trade, especially agricultural trade, in the near future?

All of this and more will be discussed!  Tickets for the program only are recommended in advance, but you may purchase your program ticket at the door.

Thursday, July 18 at Lariat Steakhouse in Peoria; Program begins at 7:00 p.m.

For more information call 677-2524 or to register at PAWAC please click here.

Peoria Public Library Needs Your Memories!

The Peoria Public Library Association is applying to host Americans and the Holocaust exhibition.  This national traveling exhibition addresses important themes in American history, including Americans' responses to refugees, war and genocide in the 1930s and '40s. This exhibition will challenge the commonly held assumptions that Americans knew little and did nothing about the Nazi persecution and murder of Jews as the Holocaust unfolded.

As they prepare for the grant application, they would like to hear from people who were alive during this period of American history and would be able to provide responses to questions like "During this time, what did you know about the Holocaust? Were you aware of what was happening in Europe?  What were you hearing from your parents about it?"

To participate please contact Karla Wilkinson at Peoria Public Library at 497-2150 or [email protected]
