With the introduction of cashless transactions, remote machine monitoring, dynamic routing and automated warehouse picking, the vending business has changed dramatically. And while many veteran operators agree that today’s technologies are imperative to be successful, leveraging these technologies remains a challenge for many operators. Technologies bring new efficiencies and can significantly improve customer service, but they also require significant investments.

During the recent National Automatic Merchandising Association show at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Bill Lockett, director of sales and marketing at Vendsys , a vending software provider owned by Nayax , a provider of cashless and telemetry solutions for unattended payments, gave an overview on preparing to leverage technology.

Tech 2 Success , a provider of cloud hosting, IT consulting and micro market wireless solutions, has introduced an e-commerce ordering software for OCS, pantry and distribution service companies.

Tech 2 Online Ordering allows convenience service operators to compete with Staples, Amazon and other e-commerce giants rather than just having an online order form. The tool gives customers access to the same features they are used to from e-commerce giants.

Tech 2 Online Ordering allows operators to accept invoice or purchase orders, credit cards, PayPal and Amazon Pay. A full service solution, there is no need to find images.
Tech 2 Success also provides marketing assistance to promote new items. There is an intuitive dashboard to manage the website, and the website can match the theme of the operator’s brand.

Southco, Inc. , a company that specializes in engineered access solutions, has introduced its EM-05 4 Series Slide Bolt, an electronic slide bolt to make it easier for operators to upgrade to electromechanical latching. The slide bolt integrates an electronic lock to provide door sensing and latch bolt position sensing. The slide bolt enables monitoring door and latch status.

The unit uses a spring-loaded, gear motor-driven mechanism to provide an alternative to solenoid solutions in high-volume storing and dispensing applications.

The slide bolt requires no power draw to maintain a retracted or extended position, and it is also adaptable to various mounting requirements and can be installed in tight spaces.

Nayax has teamed with  First Data Singapore , a provider of commerce-enabling technology and solutions. Following a similar partnership in Australia, Nayax and First Data are bringing their services to more countries in Asia, starting with Singapore.

Nayax already has a presence in Singapore’s vending machine, photo booth, electronic locker and kiddie ride markets, and will deploy its terminals to a variety of new automatic retail segments across the island country. The partnership will give consumers the ability to pay with credit cards, debit cards and mobile wallets at machines with Nayax card reader devices. More alternative payment methods will be added to the card readers in the near future, offering even greater flexibility to consumers.
