'Compassion for the Congo'

These two photos show Riverbend missions at work in support of the orphanage in the Congo.

The public washing facility, which when finished will be a public spot for people in the area to wash clothes with water supplied by a well behind the building, was built with some of the funds provided by Riverbend. All that's needed now are the washing machines to complete the project.

The 2004 Toyota van, which Riverbend contributed $10,000 to purchase, replaces the old van, which reached the end of its road and had to be sold for parts. The van is used to transport orphans and others to the mission where church services are held.

"You all at Riverbend have been a great encouragement to us at Compassion for Congo," says Paul Anthes, who has preached at Riverbend. "Words fail to express our appreciation. May God bless you and keep His hand of peace and joy over you all. He is worthy of our worship and our service. Thank you for your dear partnership with the church in Congo."

Christ Theological Seminary

Time to Register

After a highly successful first year, Christ Theological Seminary is now registering students for the second term, which starts Saturday, Aug. 3.

All interested in becoming students should contact the seminary office (386-271-8766) for details and the necessary application forms.

COURSES:

Church History 1 ... starts Aug. 6 (meets four Tuesdays & four Thursdays at 6 p.m.)
Greek Exegesis 5 ... starts Aug. 3 (meets four Saturdays at 7:30 a.m.)
Pastoral Leadership ... dates & times of class sessions to be determined

NOTE: Church History 1 may be audited by anyone for non-credit ($50 per person)

You are invited to participate in one of Riverbend's 15 Community Groups, which meet regularly in homes for Bible study, discipleship, fellowship and/or outreach. For a list of the groups, meeting locations, leaders, etc., stop by the Welcome Center at the church.

The St. Johns River Boat Tour, sponsored by Persevering Saints, has been scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 28. More details to come.
