Rebecca Whitney receives $1,000 Scholarship
|

Rebecca Whitney is a Baking Student at the Newton DMACC Campus and is from Castana, IA. She graduated from Maple Valley-Anthon Oto High School in Mapleton, IA. Growing up she loved baking and seeing how happy she could make the recipients with her baked treats! One day she hopes to open a bed and breakfast, where she can continue baking, as well as engaging in farm-to-table cooking, sustainability, and hospitality!

Three DMACC students, including a Baking student from Newton Campus, were the lucky recipients were the lucky recipients of Les Dames d’Escoffier Greater DSM chapter’s scholarship called Give the Girl a Knife.
They will each be given a knife and are invited to attend our virtual All-Member Winter Meeting on Jan. 30
- Erin Bergquist, Iowa State University, $1,000 and an engraved 8-inch Shun chef’s knife

Work Study Job Opportunity
The Newton DMACC Campus has an opening for a Work Study Job Opening.
- It will be at the front desk and you would be greeting students and visitors who arrive at the Newton Campus Building. Offer directions to various building locations. Provide contact information for faculty and staff, and offer the lobby telephone if needed.
- Qualifications for this position are Excellent customer service skills, helpful attitude and an understanding of the DMACC telephone system.
- This position will start immediately.
- Pay is $9.50 per hour.

DMACC plans to resume its Study Abroad Program in February 2022.
Are you interested in spending a semester abroad? It’s not too early to start planning! If you think you want to spend 8 weeks in the United Kingdom as a DMACC student, come to one of our upcoming info meetings. You’ll learn about how the program is structured, how to pay for your trip, and what you can learn from studying in one of Europe’s most diverse, vibrant cities.

Dates and times are listed below. All info sessions will be held over Zoom, and you’ll receive an invitation to your session of choice once you email Bethany.

Maddie Poppe, a native of Clarksville, Iowa, took the country by storm while appearing on Season 16 of "American Idol" in 2018. Poppe won the Idol crown that season and has since released several singles, including "Going, Going, Gone," "Made You Miss" and most recently, "Nothing Good Comes Out of California."
Join Maddie for a LIVE virtual show specifically for students at Iowa's Community Colleges. She'll play a variety of cover and original songs, while also sharing some of her experiences and answering questions.
