November 8, 2019
FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK

As the weather turns colder, we set our sights on finishing the calendar year strongly.  We continue to work together to enhance our curriculum to meet the needs of all of our learners.  We enjoyed our Performing Arts (Band, Choirs and Orchestra) throughout the fall season. The Production of, The Crucible , was an outstanding success.  Our Band and Color Guard earned a "Superior" rating at last weekend's State competition.  They will be performing alongside the University of Maryland and The Ohio State University Marching Bands this Saturday morning in St. John Arena.  They are also performing at the Outback Bowl over New Years Day. Our Fall Athletic season was successful as well and we look forward to kicking off the winter season next week.

We will honor our Veteran's on Thursday November 14 th with two assemblies to accommodate all students.  Our JrROTC will lead us through a colorful tribute to our men and women in the Armed Forces.  These celebrations will help us toward our goal of becoming a designated " Purple Star" school.  This is awarded to schools who strongly support military families.  The Ohio Department of Education awards this in the spring of the year.

We will be working with the Delaware County Juvenile Court, the Delaware County Board of Disabilities, Our Hayes Houses, and the Pacer Pantry to provide 250 Thanksgiving Meals for our community on Tuesday November 26 th from 10:45 till Noon here at Hayes.  This is the 5 th annual meal giveaway that truly warms our hearts.

I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving and I wish you and yours the very best this holiday season.

Thank you,

Dr. Ric Stranges
Principal

All fees have now been posted to student accounts and are able to be viewed in PowerSchool. Payment can be made by check mailed to the school or sent to school with your student (payable to Delaware City Schools with a note in the memo section with your child's name and that the check is for fees.) You may also pay online through EZ Pay

An early reminder that all seniors will need to have the balance of school fees paid in full in order to participate in graduation and receive their diploma.

decorated_turkey.jpg Thanksgiving Meals

Hayes has partnered with the Delaware County Juvenile Courts and the Delaware County Board of Developmental Disabilities for the 5th annual "Fight Against Hunger Games." Attendance

EARLY DISMISSAL FROM SCHOOL

Just as a reminder, please send a note with your child if he or she needs to leave school early for an appointment or any other reason that is known ahead of time. The student should present the note to the attendance office first thing in the morning at which time the note will be stamped to allow the student to leave class at the appropriate time. This will limit the number of classroom interruptions when students have to be called out of class throughout the day.  Additionally, if you will be picking your child up from school and have not submitted a note, please come into the welcome center to sign your child out for the day.

We are happy to accommodate unexpected and emergency situations that inevitably arise, but trying as much as possible to adhere to the official dismissal policy will help things run more smoothly, protect the safety of our students, and allow for maximum instruction time in the classroom. Thank you for your cooperation.
