NEW: Hamilton Greenbelt Cleanup with YMSL Volunteers

This past weekend, crews began work to reduce the impact of a wildfire on homes and lives in the Hamilton Greenbelt. The project included cleaning up dead, downed and cut material throughout the entire greenbelt, along with installing ‘shaded fuel breaks’ or fire breaks in strategic areas behind homes along the greenbelt perimeter. Volunteers with the Young Men’s Service League (YMSL) -Cavaliers Chapter at Lake Travis High School also participated in the project. Nearly 100 boys ages 14 to 18 along with their mothers will assist crews with the cleanup project through November and December. Members with YMSL perform 20 hours each of volunteer service and each year they perform one big project together as a mother-son team called “The Ultimate Gift.” This year’s project is assisting with the wildfire mitigation project in the Hamilton Greenbelt.
