This Week's Service:
Going Forward, Looking Back

If I know your "story", I know something about who you are and perhaps some things about why you are who you are.  It's the same with families and institutions.  We'll consider the place of a congregation's "story", and why it's important. Rev. Martha L. Munson

This Week's Drop-In Discussion: Life as a Drop-In Discussion. Hal Bauer suggests thinking of drop-in discussions as a metaphor for life.  We arrive unprepared; sometimes, sadly, leave early; make a contribution; listen to and share with friends, family and others; try to be kind while speaking truth to power for justice.  Beyond youth, life is often too short for most to fully grasp.  Hal Bauer invites you to share yours.
Stewardship Campaign:
Love Will Guide Us

Love Will Guide Us.  It's #131 in the grey hymnal (check it out!), and it's the theme of this year's stewardship campaign! From now through Stewardship Sunday, April 21, we'll be celebrating the ways that love guides us in our care for the church, one another,  and the wider community.

We welcome Heather and Bill Jones as this year's stewardship co-chairs.  Watch for more information on stewardship and your important part in this year's campaign in the weeks to come!

sanctuary Renovation News

The electrical work did start on Monday February 25 as planned.  Every Sunday we are likely to see a few changes that reflect the progress of the work.

On Monday April 1st, work on the pews and floor will begin.  This phase of the renovation will be very disruptive because the sanctuary will not be usable at all for at least one month and perhaps two.  Services will be held in the lounge during that time.  It is unclear at this point how soon there will be enough pews re-installed and how soon it will be safe to hold services in the sanctuary.

tulips Easter Plants

Please help decorate the sanctuary for Easter by ordering a plant for $9.  Becky Elwell and Ruth Fitzgerald are taking orders until March 24th.  Please specify whether you want to take the plant home with you after the Easter service or want to give it to a member of the home congregation.

If you'd like to dedicate the plant in memory of or in honor of someone, we'll list his/her name in the Easter Sunday order of service. Also, if you'd like to deliver a plant to someone, we could use your help!

ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR MARCH 3, 2013:

NEXT SERVICE: Sunday, March 10: Universalism for a New Day Universalism was founded a faith of an all-loving deity.  Or, as one wag observed, it was a church with "soft seats and no hell".  What might this mean in our time? Rev. Martha L. Munson

NEXT DROP-IN DISCUSSION: Sunday, March 10: Violence and Mental Illness.  In the light of all the gun-death tragedies this past year, psychological issues have not been covered as well as gun ownership issues.  Janet Perregaux will help us explore the traits and behavioral characteristics that may tell us over time what to watch for in people who are having difficulties in their lives that might in time tempt them to violence against themselves or others.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION: Kids ages four and older join us every week in the sanctuary for the first portion of our worship service. Children's Worship begins after the Message for All Ages.  Nursery care for babies and younger children is provided throughout the service on the second floor.  We also have seating in our second floor foyer, where parents can hold their little ones and listen to the service via speaker.

FOOD INGATHERING is next Sunday. Donations of non-perishable food items, toiletries, and paper goods will be collected to benefit The Food Cupboard on Nester Street.
