Attitude of Gratitude

Guest speaker Patti Goodwin will share with us. (Rochester City School District Superintendent Dr. Bolgen Vargas was originally scheduled to speak on this day, but canceled.)

This Week's Drop-In Discussion: Reproductive Justice.  The UUA has asserted the right of every woman to be able to choose whether to have or not to have children, and the right of every parent to bring up children in a safe and healthy environment.  We'll discuss how to achieve this, as part of a UU study-action process intended to culminate in a General Assembly resolution in 2016.

NEXT SERVICE: Sunday, November 3: Saints and Souls In multiple religious traditions, from pagan to Christian, in this season the veil between the realms is thinnest. Today's service will consider the realms. We weill also honor long-term members. Rev. Martha Munson.

NEXT DROP-IN DISCUSSION: Sunday, November 3: Gandhi and Peace.  Our discussion will be led by a representative of the M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence.  Based here in Rochester, N.Y., the Gandhi Institute works for nonviolence education, sustainability, environmental conservation, restorative justice and public awareness of nonviolence as knowledge critical to human thriving.  Thanks to Eileen Fernandez for arranging this program.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION:Kids ages four and older join us every week in the sanctuary for the first portion of our worship service. Children's Worship begins after the Message for All Ages.  Nursery care for babies and younger children is provided throughout the service on the second floor.  We also have seating in our second floor foyer, where parents can hold their little ones and listen to the service via speaker.

ARE YOU NEW TO FIRST UNIVERSALIST?  Have you come a few times and want to find out more about Unitarian Universalism and our congregation?  Then stop by the Welcome Table  in the Clara Barton Lounge during coffee hour.  You'll find friendly folks there every Sunday who are eager to talk with you!

KA-CHING!!  The change drive is here!! Are you jingling and jangling with those coins?  Last year's change drive raised over $600 for our church's programs,  proving once again that when we pool our resources, we can really make a difference. Look for change collection spot in the Clara Barton lounge before and after the services TODAY and next Sunday, and while you're at it, pick up a report from our church's most recent fiscal year.
