Scheduled Upcoming Civic Meetings - Residents are invited to attend the upcoming City meetings. Below is a list of the meetings with their date, time and location: 

Disability Concerns Meeting 
  • The Disability Concerns meeting will take place on Monday, July 15 at 5:30 pm at Westland City Hall, 36300 Warren Road. Please click here to see the agenda.
City Council Meeting
  • The City Council meeting will take place on Monday, July 15 at 7:00 pm at Westland City Hall, 36300 Warren Road. Please click here to see the agenda.
Board of Review Meeting
  • The Board of Review meeting will take place on Tuesday, July 16 at 10:30 am at Westland City Hall, 36300 Warren Road. The Westland Board of Review meets annually in July and December to make corrections to the assessment roll for the current and prior years. The July board meets the Tuesday following the third Monday in July and December meets the Tuesday following the second Monday in December. The board is allowed to make corrections to clerical errors, mutual mistakes of fact, changes of Principal Residence Exemptions, Poverty Exemptions, and Disabled Veteran Exemptions. The July and December meetings may not hear appeals from property owners on the true cash value of their property.
Planning Commission Meeting
  • The Planning Commission meeting will take place on Tuesday, July 16 at 7:30 pm at Westland City Hall, 36300 Warren Road. Please click here to see the agenda.
Zoning Board of Appeals
  • The Zoning Board of Appeals meeting will take place on Wednesday, July 17 at 5:30 pm at Westland City Hall, 36300 Warren Road. Please click here to see the agenda.

Apollo Adventure with Michigan Science Center at Westland Library - on Monday, July 15  at 5:00 pm, 6123 Central City Parkway, Meeting Rooms A and B. Drop in and discover the cosmos through 10 hands-on interactive stations. Participants will use a variety of science and engineering practices to develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for space and space exploration. Gleaners Summer Mobile Pantry at Jefferson Barns Community Vitality Center - on Tuesday, July 16 from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm. The Mobile Program provides nutritious, healthy food for 100 families. The mobile pantry includes 30 lbs. of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains and lean protein. Each family also receives healthy recipes and nutrition education. William P. Faust Public Library is hosting Music on the Lawn - on  Wednesday, July 17 at 7:00 pm.  Join us at 6123 Central City Parkway for an outdoor concert with Southern Heat. Bring your lawnchairs and blankets, and enjoy heartfelt country music and some electrified southern and classic rock songs, too. Please visit www.westland.lib.mi.us for more information.

Commodities Distribution at Jefferson Barns Community Vitality Center - on Thursday, July 18 from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. 32150 Dorsey. This is only for Westland residents living north of Michigan Avenue. It's Kids Day at The Westland Farmers & Artisans Market - on Thursday, July 18  from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm, 1901 North Carlson. Join us for children's music, crafts, balloons, story time & goodie bags for the kids! FREE children's book give-away sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Stop by and shop with your favorite vendors from the past and visit the new ones. William P. Faust Public Library is hosting a Family Movie Matinee - on Friday, July 19  at 1:00 pm, 6123 Central City Parkway. Please join us for a FREE family movie, no registration is required. Movies are rated G or PG and run approximately 90 minutes. Light refreshments will be served. Children under 8 must have an adult present. Friday Night Movie at Westland Library - on Friday, July 19 at 6:15 pm, 6123 Central City Parkway, in Meeting Rooms A and B. This week's movie is  Pet Sematary and is rated R. Snacks/refreshments are provided (donations accepted and appreciated). Jefferson Barns Summer Reading Program - join in any time during summer vacation. This program is for independent readers aged 5-15. Each week, read one or more books and visit Jefferson Barns Reading Room, 32150 Dorsey, to pick a prize from the prize box! Summer Reading - continues throughout the summer at the William P. Faust Public Library, 6123 Central City Parkway. The theme this year is "A Universe of Stories."  Everything is FREE all summer long! When kids read over the summer, they fill out a reading log and bring it back to the Library to get prizes.
