Get Outside!
Here we are mid July, beautiful weather - time to get outside and enjoy the beauty around you!

Eberhard Veit, President of McHenry County Bicycle Advocates, did just that! I believe this is the first time we've had a customer come shopping on their bicycle! It looked so pretty as he rode away with a hanging basket on the front and back of his bike!

Unplug! Get outside and connect with nature! As you admire your landscape take it all in... the contrasting colors, butterflies and dragonflies fluttering about, the sound of the wind as it rustles through the trees. When was the last time you looked up to enjoy the beautiful shapes of the clouds against the pretty blue sky? It's so nice to see some pretty blue sky! We are finally in the glory of the summer months.

If you don't have enough flowers to enjoy - come on in while our flowers are on sale and at their prettiest!

If you don't have enough shade - come on in for a beautiful shade tree!

If you don't have a place to gather with friends and family - our landscape department is available for the patio you know you need!

If the mosquitoes are horrendous - we have Mosquito Beater!

There is no excuse - get out side and do something! Even if it's just to take it all in...

Design your own floral arrangement from your garden!

Everything is in full bloom. Now is the time to snip some flowers here - some blooms there... and bring them inside to brighten your dining room table, your kitchen, bath or night stand!

Here are some tips from our Floral Designers:
Come on in and pick up some floral food. Its a small packet of food that comes with fresh flowers. Mix it with the water that you will use in your vase to help prolong the life of your cut flowers.

When you go out to your cutting garden, bring a watering can filled with fresh water to place your cut flowers in so they stay hydrated.

Start your arrangement with greens first - Hosta and fern leaves work really well!

Remove any leaves from the flower stems. You don't want leafy stems in the water of your vase.  Proceed to insert the fuller flowers - Queen Anne's Lace, Hydrangea, Yarrow etc. to give the arrangement shape and a grid to hold the other flowers in place.

Continue with your linear flowers - Delphinium, Liatrus, Galdiolas.

Now add your mass flowers - your roses, lilies, sunflowers, zinnia and enjoy!

Add water as needed and change the water when it starts to look cloudy.

Share a bouquet with a neighbor! You know they've been admiring your gardens!
Time to add your own style! Be it a fountain or birdbath,
statuary of all kinds,
even some hooties...

You are sure to find the right accents from our large selection of concrete statuary, fountains, birdbaths and benches.

Everything you need to create the perfect outdoor retreat!

Speaking of the joys of being outside... have you had the privilege of picking your own fruit off your own trees?
Our apple tree came down a couple of weekends ago...the stump remains.

Thank you to V incentae and Lori for planting our new "Snow Crisp" apple tree!

While planting, Vincente experienced 'deja vu' as he had planted the other one many years ago!

We are looking forward to it's sweet fruit for years to come. You can too - stop in for the perfect fruit tree for your family!

20% Off Fruit Trees!
Choose from apples, peaches, plums, and cherries!

Bonus to planting fruit trees: not only do you get the fruit but you get to enjoy the first flowers of spring!
