Dear Nancy,

Thank you very much for your incredibly generous donation of $500 to Fruitful Offerings!

Fruitful Offerings had another banner year and distributed over 250 vegetable plants in pots and garden plants to Dedham Food Pantry clients and seniors in Dedham Public Housing. By growing their own fresh vegetables, people gain a sense of accomplishment, and consume more fresh food. The impact continues when generations pass on self-sustaining gardening skills to children and  families are outside in the fresh air gardening together. The ripples of impact will touch clients who struggle with mental and physical illnesses and addiction when they can find some relief by doing something positive for themselves and their families.

This year, I had the pleasure of meeting several children who cared for plants in pots the previous year and were so proud they grew vegetable for their families. Another immigrant family grew up on a farm and are very excited to use the Fruitful Offerings Gardens and finally have a place to   garden. I delivered plants in self-contained growing pots to two very infirmed seniors. Their faces lite up when the realized they could grow something with little effort while in their fragile state. Each seemed to perk up right before my eyes as they began gently tending to the plants within minutes of receiving them.

We can't possibly know how many lives will be touched this year or in the years to follow. This  positive impact would not be possible without your generosity.

Thank you again!

Kindly,

Ann Miranda

TAKE JESUS WITH YOU
The Adventures of Flat Jesus

As Christians we are called to keep Christ at the center of our lives and to spread the gospel wherever we go. This summer in your travels and adventures take Jesus along...and tell us about it!

Who is Flat Jesus?
The original "flat" character was Flat Stanley, star of a book by Jeff Brown in which a boy has remarkable adventures after waking up one day to discover he is flattened to half-an-inch thick. This was the beginning of the Flat Stanley project in schools to help children with literacy   and geography and from this grew the Flat Jesus Project .

The Flat Jesus Project
"And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age."  Matthew 28:20
Flat Jesus reminds us to keep Christ at the center of our lives even, or especially, when we are far from our church home. As you are out and about this summer, take Jesus along for the adventure. You'll love taking Flat Jesus out to dinner or the park, to the zoo or to camp - wherever you and your family go. Then document the     adventures with pictures you share with your St. Paul's family. This project is for
EVERYONE, not just families with children.

How to create your own Flat Jesus

1.   Pick up a copy at the church, or make your own by googling "Flat Jesus"
2.   Get creative! Decorate Flat Jesus - what color hair does he have? What color skin tone? How should his robes be decorated? How do you see Jesus?
3.   Make one for yourself and one for a friend.
4.   Check the back of your Flat Jesus to see how to share.*
5.   If you have access to a laminating machine, cut out and laminate your Flat
Jesus. This way if he attempts to walk on water or spills a lot of wine, he'll be
protected!
6.   Take your Flat Jesus everywhere with you and take plenty of pictures. Share your pictures with us. Photo prints will be added to a bulletin board in the hallway.
7.   Talk with family and friends about what you and Flat Jesus experienced.
8. Have Fun!

* If you download a Flat Jesus off the web instead of getting one from St. Paul's, and would like to share it, send  it to Jen Luszcz at  [email protected]) or text (617-803-6504) . If you would like to share Flat Jesus in the Friday e-mail newsletter as well, email to   [email protected]

NEW PODCAST: "THE WAY OF LOVE"
A new podcast,
"The Way of Love: with Bishop Michael Curry," launches on Pentecost, June 9.  The weekly conversations, featuring Curry and podcast hosts Kyle Oliver and Sandy Milien, will explore living life with a commitment to God's unconditional, unselfish, sacrificial and redemptive love.  Each week in the first season, Curry will introduce one of the seven "Way of Love" practices for a Jesus-centered life:  turn, learn, pray, worship, bless, go, rest.  Listeners will be invited into deeper engagement with each practice as the hosts share their insights and offer questions for reflection or small group discussion.  New episodes air on Tuesdays through July 30. "The Way of Love: with Bishop Michael Curry" will be available on all podcast apps; visit the Way of Love podcast webpage to subscribe to the podcast through Apple iTunes, Google Play or Spotify and to sign up for notifications of new seasons as well as additional featured content.

                         Our next novel will be:

                       Clock Dance by Anne Tyler

Willa Drake has had three opportunities to start her life over: in 1967, as a schoolgirl whose mother has suddenly disappeared; in 1977, when considering a marriage proposal; and in 1997, as a young widow trying to hold her family together. So she is surprised when in 2017 she is given one last chance to change everything, after receiving a startling phone call from a stranger. Without fully understanding why, she flies across the country to Baltimore to help a young woman she's never met. This impulsive decision, maybe the first one she's consciously made in her life, will lead Willa into uncharted territory-surrounded by eccentric neighbors who treat each other like family, she finds solace and fulfillment in unexpected places.
