Adopt a Room Project

Our beautiful building desperately needs some on-going TLC.  If you would be interested in adopting a room and keeping it clean throughout the year, please join Nancy Gaede in the choir room (2nd floor) for an organizational meeting immediately following the service on July 12.

Unirondack Unirondack Weekend October 2-4, 2015

Please join fellow Rochester UUs for a weekend at Unirondack, the camp in Lowville, NY, owned by our St Lawrence District. The weekend has been organized for many years by members of the First Unitarian Church, and members of First Universalist are also welcome to participate.

The weekend includes 5 collaboratively prepared meals starting Saturday morning, bunk beds in cabins with electricity and running water (but not heat). Hiking, kayaking/canoeing, crafts, games, quiet time, campfire/sing-along, and other activities shared usually by 50-70 people.

For more information, 'like' the Rochester Unitarian Unirondack Facebook page or contact MJ Curry at [email protected]. Registration will take place in September; volunteers welcome in the planning process over the summer.

No Standing

You may have noticed the parking sign on the Court Street side of the church building has been changed to a No Standing sign.

According to newyorksafetycouncil.com, No Standing signs apply to unloading and loading people only, not merchandise. New York law allows you to expeditiously drop off or pick up passengers at this sign, but it doesn't allow you to wait for passengers to arrive or to load or unload merchandise at the curb. The important thing to remember about No Standing signs is that they are "people only" signs, and you could receive a ticket if you don't adhere to this rule.

According to cityofrochester.gov, parking tickets will be issued for parking in a No Standing zone.
