Jim Kurtz, Ipswich author of the book  THE GREEN BOX,  will honor veterans in a multimedia presentation on Veterans Day, November 11 from 7-9:00pm at the Essex Town Hall, 30 Martin St, Essex, MA. Kurtz will share photographs and video clips about his father, co-pilot of the B24 Liberator nicknamed “Sugar Baby” that crashed in the Alps during a fierce air battle over Austria August 3,1944.

Recently Kurtz, accompanied by his son and a documentary film crew from Dream Catcher Films Entertainment, traveled to the crash site on the 75th anniversary of the air battle where 8 German fighter planes and 8 American bombers were shot down. Austrian Gerd Leitner, who watched the planes fall from the sky as a young boy, led the team into the Alps. The film crew also documented Kurtz’s journey into Poland to Stalag Luft III, the POW camp where his father was held captive for eight months. Kurtz will speak about his dad’s service in the 465th Bomb Group during WWII and share footage from his trip to Europe for the documentary in production titled  The Green Box: At the Heart of a Purple Heart.   For more information see website:   https://www.greenboxfilm.com
