Online One-Star Tool for Child Care Programs   
Register for your one-star SUTQ rating today!

The One-Star Tool for child care centers and family child care homes is an online resource that was created to assist child care programs through all of the steps to registering for their first Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) star. Providers within 4C for Children's service area will also receive a free SUTQ resource binder when they sign up. The binder has all the paperwork needed to register for a one-star rating.

There are lots of ways to help children build the foundation for future STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) learning in your early childhood program's daily routine.
 
For example, the Erikson Institute Early Math Collaborative has resources to help you include simple math concepts every day. In this article, ideas on ways to practice counting using children's favorite books are shared. "Children need experiences and practice counting in different, flexible ways while learning these rules of counting. And what better way to do that than through the books they love to hear over and over."
 
You can also check out 4C for Children training to help enhance the STEAM activities in your classroom. On July 31 attend Creating STEAM-Related Outdoor Preschool Experiences to learn more about the benefits of outdoor play and strategies for using community resources to extend the STEAM learning experience. On Aug. 14 attend Explore This! Blocks & Construction Activities for School-Age Programs to learn fun and new ways to engage school-agers in easy blocks and construction projects that they will enjoy and just might enhance what they are learning during the school day.
