Welcome to the 5th edition of our new monthly newsletter!
The goal for our newsletter is to aid in connecting our members to relevant safety resources together in one convenient location every month and to share information from the monthly meetings. Please share with your colleagues!

IMPORTANT:
There is only ONE regular monthly meeting left to meet attendance.
If 'CEO' credit has not yet been met (in red) , it must be attained at the June 11th meeting .
BWC Safety Council attendance requirements are as follows:
  • Attend 10 safety council meetings**;
  • At least eight through the local safety council.
  • Credit can be received for up to two meetings through attendance at Safety Congress or industry-specific training, BWC’s safety training courses, (see below for list of Lima training)
  • Send a qualified senior-level manager to a safety council sponsored meeting (may not be met using an external training)

ACTIVE SHOOTER
During this class attendees will review the Avoid, Deny and Defend strategy as we provide tactics, guidance and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter emergency. Course topics include:
  • History of Active Shooter Events
  • Types and Sources of Workplace Violence
  • Threat Assessment
  • Prevention Strategies
  • Dealing with Volatile Situations before they Become Violent Situations
  • Indicators of Violent Behavior
  • Civilian Response Options
  • Active Shooter Drills
  • Medical Issues
CPR/AED and FIRST AID TRAINING 
During this class attendees will develop the knowledge, skills and confidence necessary to respond in an emergency. Course topics include:
  • Respiratory and Circulatory Systems
  • Sudden Cardiac Arrest
  • Early Defibrillation
  • Chain of Survival
  • Recognizing an Emergency
  • Deciding to Help
  • Personal Safety
  • Disease Transmissions
  • Universal Precautions
  • Unresponsive and Breathing – Recovery Position
  • Unresponsive and Not Breathing – CPR
  • Basic AED Operation
  • Choking
  • Bleeding, burns, fractures, diabetic conditions, shock, strain, allergic reactions and seizures

The West Central Ohio Safety Council is an organization co-sponsored by the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, Division of Safety & Hygiene and the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce. Our mission is to increase the awareness and the importance of safety, health, and wellness to area businesses and the communities of the West Central Ohio/Greater Lima Region.

The mission of Crime Victim Services' Court Appointed Special Advocate / Guardian ad Litem (CASA/GAL) Program is to advocate for the best interest of abused, neglected, and dependent children to the courts with continuously trained volunteers who focus on investigation / assessment, relationships, and reports, so each child can have a safe and permanent home.
